Over 30 years of 6 Wranglers YJ, TJ, JK, JL, and ZERO reliability issue so far, the current 4xe might buck that who knows, I also never had weird 12v battery issues either.

I had one issue where the useless Uconnect fail within weeks in the 2015 JK, the Uconnect in this 2021 4xe doesn't play audio once every few months, annoying AF to say the least, but I don't want them ripping up my dash and damaging it like they did with the 2015. My Wranglers almost never went back to the dealership, which might be the reason they were reliable.

As for Tesla, they are chock full of useless apps and 💩, and we know how well computers work, the few people I know with Tesla have no propulsion problems, they do have the odd weird issues like buggy locks and windows etc, anyone using the Jeep app knows how well that junk works

This CR report pertains to older vehicles. Tesla was in its manufacturing infancy for much of this time…so poor long term reliability is not a huge surprise. On the other hand Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep have had poor reliability despite years of manufacturing experience. Five years from now when CR does this report again I would expect improvement from Tesla and further decline from Jeep (especially given the reliability deterioration the JL has experienced compared to the JK).

Anecdotally, I owned a 2018 Tesla Model 3 for 30 months….with virtually no issues except for a minor panel misalignment. By comparison my 2020 Wrangler had two failures that made it not drivable during its first 30 months of ownership…not to mention the need to proactively pot the locker sensors to prevent a future failure. I’ve had other issues but I only included issues during the first 30 months for comparison purposes.

I might suggest Stellantis set its reliability aims a bit higher.

I rented a Tesla model S.

Pro(s), it's fast.

Cons: everything else. Pain in the ass to charge. Interior feels very cheap. Very low range. I was told getting replacement parts will take a very long time.

Yep - a Tesla rental is not a great use case unless you have ready access to a Supercharger or overnight access to an L2 charger. Also, unless you are an experienced EV owner, it can be frustrating not to understand different ways of locating charging facilities. There is a learning curve.

Replacement parts are challenging across the board. Just had a friend need to replace a dash screen in a newer Escalade; took two months. One good thing about the Wrangler, they tend to break more than some brands but I’ve generally had no problem getting parts.

Yup, parts availability are an issue everywhere. Wife’s Volvo took 4+ months to repair from a fairly minor accident due to parts delay.

Tesla Cybertruck Catches Fire After Hitting Hydrant, Takes 90 Minutes to Extinguish😅🔥

At least that was outside...
Reports coming in from around the world of these BEV's catching fire in car parks etc. taking out multiples of other vehicles, and causing $$$$ in property damage, injuries, and unfortunately in some cases deaths, inevitably will increase, as the push continues.
Unfortunately, the media likes to cover up these stories.... casts a shadow on the narrative.

I'm not against the "media" or EV's, I just hate on Tesla.

They've been producing vehicles since 2008. CR covered vehicles 5 to 10 years old. I guess 6 to 11 years of production might not be enough time to deal with long term reliability.

There are a few categories where the 4xe would excel, but that ugly AF Cybertruck is stupidly fast. And the 4xe doesn't stand a chance in the carrot-cutting category.
I give the Cybertruk 2 thumbs up

or two thumbs off

The data is 2014-2019, so predominately JKs.

The consumer reports sample is not random and does not give confidence intervals. Consumer reports members are not representative of the overall vehicle owner population. Those members who choose to answer the survey are also not representative of the overall vehicle owner population. And there is no mention of how the various aspects of car reliability are weighed.

Throw away the data, the report and the conclusion.
