how hard was it to keep the stock plastic fender liners? could you share some pictures so I can see if and what you cut? I am looking at doing the same if I can keep the fenderliners without a huge hassle. Thanks-
I dont have a picture of where I cut mine but here is either side installed. The first picture was my 2nd go at it and you can see I left extra room around the fender brackets and am happier with how that one turned out. Just take your time and hold it up there and cut slowly.

I used the 2 fender brakets and some stainless hardware through the hole in them to bolt the tops and then any stock locations left for pins and zipties for the rest.

Here’s another video from “he who shall not be named”
I did see that video. It's about the rugged ridge. Those are out of stock everywhere and some mixed thoughts on them from what I have seen online. Anyone have feelings on the rugged ridge?

Just pointing it out because it gives other views of cutting back the OEM fender liner.

I liked the look of the Rugged Ridge with the DRL since they were just the tiny slimline LED but never got them. Waited about 8 months and kept getting updates on availability. Finally called Rugged Ridge directly (I had ordered from another vendor) and spoke with someone. The story I got was that they had switched over to a new system in their warehouse and there was some kind of glitch that was causing the problem of shipping. He said because you can’t buy just the DRL portion (they are covered under warranty only) that the kit without DRL has to be coupled with the actual DRL and then shipped but because of this glitch the DRL combined kits weren’t getting combined properly, blah, blah, blah. Said they were expected to have everything fixed by end of January.
Someone else told me they were being bought out, don’t know if that’s true or not. Either way, I gave up on them and went with the Quake w/ DRL. So I don’t actually have any opinion of the Rugged Ridge lights since I never got them but definitely can’t say anything positive about their customer service.

I bought but have not yet installed the AAL front brackets. Maybe today.

Aftermarket inner fender liners always seemed overpriced to me for what you get. They're just laser-cut and pan-braked thin sheet aluminum. So I recently bought some Amazon cheapies from "Hooke Road" I've installed the rear but not the front.

$199 for all four - which is less than just a front or rear pair for the brand names.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DJS3RBF1?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details

Also, if you take your fenders off, you're going to need these clips:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DC68JYPS?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

On the front, you may be able to save most of 'em by using pliers. But on the back, for most of them, you don't have the access needed to be able to squeeze the back of the clip with pliers.

I tried to buy some at the dealer, and they retail for $16 PER CLIP! Even they sell 'em to you wholesale, it's $9 PER CLIP. The box above is $12 for a box of 25.

Yeah, inner liners can be pricey for sure. I have the Falcon 3.3 and didn’t find any budget friendly liners that worked with them so went with Nemesis. Way overpriced but have to say very nice kit as far as quality and finish goes. Pretty thick gauge of aluminum and premium tig welds.

Most definitely on the clips, if I remember correctly the fronts take 9 or 10 per fender and the rears take 11 or 12. I was able to get my local dealer down to about 4.75 per clip and bought what the 18 that they had on hand. Went with some Dorman equivalent from O’Reilly for the rest. I have to say that the OEM clips do hold a little tighter than the aftermarket but not a huge deal.

Looking at doing a front fender chop on my 2021 JLUR. I have seen a few kits over the years and hoping the bugs have finally been worked out with yellowing lenses, fast flash, etc. What would everyone's suggestion be for the best bang for your buck and the least problems and not break the bank hopefully. Do I need fender liners or can I keep the stock with certain kits? I'm not looking to go crazy just looking to get rid of the big marker/turn lenses. Pics a bonus. Thanks!
I went with AAL chop kit, and Artec inners….I don’t know if it’s the best, but it’s held up pretty good in the FL sun….. Their customer service was great back then too. I had the first gen lights and one had a couple spots not burning… they upgraded my lights to the latest and greatest, only charged me shipping/handling….this was five years ago…..I like the sequential turn signals..

The Texas Fender Chop is the best and least expensive fender chop available!

The how-to video below also applies to the JL..

Can easily trim the factory liner to work, and honestly I have more rubbing with my cavfab liners than I did with the trimmed oem. I don’t have any more pics to share right now but I’m quite happy with them.

I installed the AAL lights last March. I already had the Rough Country fender liners. No problems so far. I got the smoked ones to avoid any issues with yellowing.

I went quake a few years ago. I did have some minor issues with the 1st set after 2 years.

They sold me a discounted replacement set of lenses and they've been good for about a year so far.

I also kept the factory plastic liners. No issues in that regard.

Can you show the inner fender?
I just started a thread and it would be so much better if I could keep the stock ones. Not digging the look of aftermarket liners.

Sure thing! .I wanted to keep mine as intact as possible. So I kept the Fender and liner all one piece and only trimmed away at the front, and then I tucked in the extra behind the Fender chop bracket. Let me know if there's other angles you want to see.
