What would be nice is for Stellantis to allow our Jeeps to connect to our home wifi, send software update alerts to Jeep Wave app, and allow us to either approve/deny the update from the app to be installed.

If 2021’s have an updated steering gear box, should I update my 2018? Of course the answer is yes.I still don’t understand why any updates are needed. My 2021 Jeep runs like it did the day I bought it, why update anything?
If the new 2023’s have a different camshaft should I have mine swapped out for the “updated” model as well?
Did you update the gear ratio to 4.56’s or 4.88’s along with 35” tires while you're at it? What about updating the engine to a 392?If 2021’s have an updated steering gear box, should I update my 2018? Of course the answer is yes.
On my '18, the repair parts list was:I just got the word back from the dealer that my '22 Rubicon is at; they are replacing the entire axle due to the bad sensor. I had thought that full axle replacement was no longer necessary, apparently it still is. Another week for parts, and a week to install, I'm looking at three weeks total. In my case, at least, FCA is paying for it. More accurately, buyers on '23 and later Wranglers are paying for this, via price increases, etc...
I completely agree with you on this one... exactly what I did.If ones Wrangler is running and performing good, then why worry about software updates....... alone pay for them?
Those are not comparable and you know that. It’s a cost:benefit analysis for every person to decide on their own.Did you update the gear ratio to 4.56’s or 4.88’s along with 35” tires while you're at it? What about updating the engine to a 392?

PCM software updates are the only ones worth doing to me, but that’s just one opinion.
Better performance, generally. More or less sensitive fault indication, changing self test conditions, reducing annoyances, optimizing emissions, etc. What are the benefits of software updates?
Your getting software that was beta tested by drivers like you and me. They realized they could make it better going forward. They only have to fix it for free if its safety related. Otherwise it could be because the problem only affects certain conditions. What are the benefits of software updates?
I spent many years as a dealer tech. Software updates weren’t a major PITA. If they are now, it’s because someone designed it to be.They’re not a minor service. They’re a major pain in the ass that requires thousands of dollars in investment just to begin to be able to do them correctly.
Yeah, this, Updating should “require” about ten minutes for the tech to hook up the computer to the port and then start the downloads. Even if he has to come back each one individually it still shouldn’t take 1/2 hour “human time” for the whole thing. I’d be looking at another dealer.I'm a software geek, ask for the "Changelog" so you know what you're paying for. $400 to plug in a computer and pull down updates is crazy. I guess you're paying for the tech to sit outside the garage and smoke a pack of cigs while it updates.![]()
