The community outside of the dealership is always a better go to. No filter and no greedy advantage to helping here. Just straight data, tips, tricks, and the common ground of the sport itself. Dealerships would go a long way if they embraced community over policy. People don't mind paying to get things fixed. It's the "getting fucked without taking me to dinner first" feeling you get just by pulling into their parking lot.
The only shop that has touched my Jeep (only once so far) is a local Mom and Pop 4x4 shop that has been owned by the family for three generations and gives an extraordinary amount of their time and money to the off-road community.

Those are the best to find, for sure. Big advocate for passionate small businesses.

Best response from a dealer when I mentioned the forum was his smirk. I felt like smacking him.

@Wabujitsu if a bonehead like me can do it you can too.
Terry, I appreciate that. My issue isn’t a lack of confidence and knowledge. It’s physicality, being disabled and not knowing when my next ā€œgood dayā€ will be and how long it will last.

If you can get the sensors out, I’ll pot them for you for free + shipping.

Got it…understood. I’m guessing you’ve paid your dues physically many times over in your career.

Alrighty. Just seeing if you were close enough to help OP (as plan B) out if he needed it so we can get his sensors potted.
Copy, I know Jeff, we’ve wheeled a few times together…

Of course I’ll help out anyway I can, but the way I went about my locker sensors was with these…..

https://www.zautomotive.com/product...66534&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21766573635

I needed the little extra slack because of the amount of droop I have…. They’ve worked flawlessly for a couple years now…. I was gonna pot my sensors when I did my gears, but it was my first time regearing with an e- locker and I was so hyper focused that by the time I remembered everything was buttoned up…..Shawn was a huge help when I did my gears, invaluable…. I just wish he had reminded me to do itā€¦šŸ¤£
Jeff, this is just an alternative, they’re a bit spendy, worth every penny to me….

I saw the Z Automotive ones and said no f*cking way am I spending that. Funny thing is I watched their video about the Chinese knock offs that don't work so of course I went and bought those for a total $50 for BOTH.
The problem w the knock offs is the connectors have a little plastic ridge in them that doesn't line up with the ones on the Jeep. Well Mr. razor knife took care of that. Then I siliconed the heck out of the connections and voila... $50 vs. $340 and they work perfectly.

Dan, I did not. Is it possible to pull the sensor without removing the diff cover?
No, you have to remove the diff cover. That being said the seal is reusable.

Also with a long handle torx bit you can remove just the sensor.

Thanks for your reply. As much as locker sensors go bad for folks on this forum, with 67 views and only one reply, I’m starting to think that what I described above is not the typical way for the sensor(s) to show the beginning of the malfunction process.

As much as I hate to, I guess I will make an appointment with the dealership, as this should be covered under the powertrain warranty (AFTER I crawl underneath and check the connection). I’m a little shy of 40K miles and four years of ownership.
Mine were ok until I did a re-gear. I’m thinking the metal in the oil from the new gears was just enough to fry my sensor. In my case once it’s bad, it’s bad. That’s why IMO with your scenario it sounds more like a bad/loose connection.
