On my JL, the driver information center gives me a warning when my fob battery is low. This is when I replace the fob battery. I have never had a no start condition.

I don't need anyone or a nag notice to tell me to wipe my ass so to speak.

I change my Smoke Detector batteries at my houses, my rental units and Fob batteries on each vehicle once yearly... I also spot check fob batteries say every 3 or 4 months.

In regard to fob batteries in particular. It is prudent to change yearly not just because they are due for replacing but also to check out condition of the fob battery as over time they can and have been know to leak and cause fob damage... especially if you use elcheapo batteries.

Yes, my FOB was destroyed by the OEM battery. Change them once a year and you'll probably never have a problem..

I give these Faraday bags as Christmas gifts ever year. To a person, they're all grateful for and impressed by the simple and effective protection that the bags provide.
Are they big enough to hold these giant Jeep keyfobs?

While My 2018 battery is still doing fine, I had a 2015 challenger with similar electronics. It’s battery would go out about every 18 mo this. In all cases, the information center would give a heads up on when it was running low. In every case I waited until the battery was fully dead. By pushing the start button with the fob the vehicle will still operate.

My challenger had proximity entry, my JL does not. Theirs may be why the JL is lasting longer.

Has anyone had to replace the battery? I've had my JL 5 years and 55K miles and so far neither of ours need replacing.

I had to replace both, a little over a year into ownership. I guess its been about 3 years now, it's time to preventatively replace them.

When you replace a battery do you need to do anything to get the fob to work again, or does it have built-in memory?
