Based on this great info above, this looks good:

Jeep JL/JT Battery Cutoff Switch Mount

and add the Blue Sea switch with these ratings...

Yes that's more than enough for a Smittybilt or HF winch. You aren't going over 400A with those.

Fun question - what size wire did they include with your winch? My Evo came with 2AWG. Anyone want to look up the current carrying capacity of 2AWG 90C cable?

Got mine wired to aux # 2….

Thanks! Was waiting for an Aux 1 or 2 (40A) solution using a relay/fuse (500A). I will consider this too since you are in the driver's seat when you get stuck, easy to hit the Aux button.

LOL right to the d*ck measuring contest. Sorry I apparently injured your ego.

Only on the internet. Geez.
You do realize winch manufacturers under spec parts to keep costs down knowing full well 95% or more of the people who buy them won't ever truly push the cheap parts to the breaking point, right?

And most winch failures I've seen aren't in the motor or gears, it's always in the solenoid packs that overheat and fail because they're under spec.

its less a dick measuring contest and more a, if you are only short pulls you will probably be fine, but if shit hits the fan and you need to lean on your winch the contactor can be a problem.

Yes the contactor can be a problem...but if your contactor is going to melt before your disconnect, then why make such a big deal about the disconnect rating?

You can use # 3 or 4 also to activate the solenoid. I just happened to only have # 2 available….The Singer I have only needs 10-20 amp fuse to activate it……

Yup I was thinking same thing... why waste the 40A switches. But not even sure how I would use my Aux switches yet. I will have pod lights soon enough, but LEDs don't draw much. Easy to switch em around afterwards, I guess.

Warn doesn’t list their continuous and peak amp rating in the instructions with their 62132 kit or on their website that I have found. I also don’t believe they specifically market this as being for a winch. I have it installed and just emailed their tech support to get some actual ratings. I suspect I’ll be swapping it out for something rated for 500 amps continuous because I love overkill. If someone has actual specs from Warn themselves please post.

LOL two guys who don't know what they're talking about think they "called me out".

Rich.

I just found a real picture of the kit where I could read the model number on the included solenoid, and then looked up that solenoid on the Ametek site.

I have the specs for my 8274 from 1977 I used when I rebuilt it. I suspect my 25 year old XD9000 also has specs and likely uses the same control pack as many of the other Warns back then.

Most products sold today don't have any specs.

Also just wanted to note - if you want to go way overboard and be covered for 500A continuous, you are going to need at least 500kcmil cable...and I don't know if you've ever tried to run cable that big but bro...you'd better have some cannons.

Interesting and honest question - does an automotive disconnect rated for 500A continuous actually have terminals large enough for wire that will handle 500A continuous?

Ive had this kit installed for several years, its a fantastic accessory for those of us that prefer the winch to be on an interuptable power circuit. The blue sea disconnect is much nicer quality than the others, its definatley worth the few extra $$

Blue Sea makes fantastic products. Use them all the time on the fire trucks we sell/service.

You know perfectly well that required wire gauge depends on the length of the run.

At least you should if you're going to pass yourself off as an expert.
