Did the aux battery bypass today by pulling Fuse 42 and disconnecting and taping the aux battery negative cable. Everything is good except when I first start it up I get the message: "auxiliary switches not available while battery charging” ? The auxiliary switches don't work for a couple minutes and then they work. After driving for awhile the battery is showing 13.9 to 14 volt. So I'd think the battery is fully charged. Shut off the engine and restart and get the aux switches not available message again. Is this normal for the aux battery bypass mod? Or is this an indication that the main battery is going bad? Its the original battery in a JL with a 3.6 that has a build date of Feb 2020.

That readout that you are seeing while driving is reporting the alternator output....

That Aux switch message is displaying because your Main is low on voltage or you would not be seeing that message.

Suggest you buy a new Main battery.... replace that 3 yr. old Main on your JL.

Buy an H7 AGM. Assure the new battery is fully charged and then install.

In regard to Main replacement... I encourage you to read through this whole thread:

Probably what BUSHRVN siad. I had the same problem and not only was the small ess battery shot the regular full size battery was unhappy as well.
I Pulled fuse 42, removed the neg. bat cable from the aux bat and tapped. Replaced the main battery with a new fully charged AGM and added the autostart/stop harness for the ESS and all is well. Aux switches perfectly, autostart/stop still works if you enable it (but I always leave the feature disabled) No codes, or dash trouble indicators and everything else works perfectly.
I will say though if I had to do it all over again I would have used a standard lead Acid automotive battery instead of the AGM because I believe they last longer, and are cheaper to boot.
