Bass on Acceleration

I know someone asked about this not long ago, but I can't find it via forum search or Google search. That's how I knew (sort-of) what it was when I heard it! In any case, feel free to point me to the thread with a link if you have it.

I hear "bass pumping" sometimes when I accelerate -- while I have music playing or the "radio" is off. This is a feature to counteract something (acceleration noise?) but I can't remember what, and my searches in the manual & web have garnered no results.

It sounds like you are talking about Active Noise Canceling (ANC). I've got it in my Ram, tell you the truth I haven't even checked to see if the Jeep has it.

IIRC, on the Ram people experienced similar issues when adding external amplifires with ANC enabled.

So, I do have ANC on my build sheet. Hard to tell, but from the Alpine Amplifier description in the FSM, it looks like it may be part of either the Alpine option or included with 392 (which I believe has the Alpine anyway.

Beyond that, several inputs to the amp appear to impact:

CAN-IHS Inputs

• Ignition switch status
• System voltage
• Vehicle speed
• Engine RPM
• Audio source, type and level controls
• Audio mode for cabin/driver
• Audio mute status
• Park assist chime type/request and volume
• Blind Spot Module (BSM) chime type/request
• Vehicle configuration and status
• Radio configuration and status
• CAN configuration and status
• Removable hard top ON/OFF status from BCM
• Power top position
• Door ON/OFF status from BCM
• Door/Swing Gate ajar status from BCM

No -- that's not is, because it happens even when no audio is playing. I did enable Speed Adjusted Volume, though, and it actually works very nicely!

That may explain it. I don't have the Alpine system and never heard of ANC in the JL.

No--not yet. I usually blast music, but I'm not very picky about the quality, so I doubt I will do much to it

Looks like there are four mics, I think it's pointing to the sound bar for the first two, and the side panels in the cargo area right by the tailgate for the other two.

Any chance you accidentally covered one up or something that could be impacting?

No -- I haven't added much. I think it's working as intended, I'm just not used to it yet.

It's not working as intended if you're hearing this when the stereo is off.

Oh! Good to know. I'm going to see if I can capture it on video, but I doubt it, since it's more of a feel it/experience it thing. I'll ask the dealership to check into it tomorrow when they look at the busted window and broken seat
