I agree that power windows, door locks and mirrors have history on their side, in terms of market presence and reliability. I like such features. I've owned vehicles with such features (and more). That doesn't, however, prevent me from recognizing and appreciating simplicity for its own sake, in the form of my JLU's Sport trim.

Push-button starting is convenient, true enough. I just wish I wasn't forced to scroll through the Run position, which wakes up the engine's electrical and diagnostic systems, only to have to shut them down a second or two later, just because I wanted to briefly use the ACC position. Having independent access to the ACC position is what I really miss about keyed ignitions...which are indeed capable of hardening/authentication, as the chip-equipped key fobs -- in the truest sense -- for our two Hondas have proven.

I have auto windows and seats and honestly wish I have manual ones. A jeep is made to run rough and the fewer electronics the easier it is to repair on your own and in general.

Jeep isnt built for luxury, and I say this as a sahara owner.
I’ve got a “S” because a plain Sport wasn’t available when I went to buy. I got a good price and that’s ok, but I’d Prefer the base all things being equal. It’s a freaking Jeep. My last TJ was a Sahara with all the options-but power windows , doors, and mirrors were NOT on the list😏. Did have A/C and Am/FM radio🙄

I KNOW RIGHT?! I have seen push button start systems with a 2nd button for going straight to acc mode before.

The version our Cadillac has irritates the hell out of me. Just like the Jeep, if you push the button without your foot on the brake it goes straight to acc mode. But it automatically turns off after about 5 minutes. There is no way to make it stay in ACC mode!!!

Their idea is if you want "acc mode" you're supposed to hit the power button on the radio to turn it on when the car is off. But that doesn't allow you to open the power windows lol.

On the plus side, the Cadillac does go from "acc mode" to "off" when you hit the power button.

Caddys are nice for what they are. I loved working on them and when I was I realized they were simple compared to Benz and BMW. So much that can go wrong electronically tho. The wiring diagrams were a maze of wtf with miatakes through out. If a senior tech cant fix your car, assume the service info is wrong...

Still wish I had bucked up for a ATS with the 6sp. The ATS V-Sport was monster of a car that was a riot in manual.

I have a willys sport. Prior to the jeep every vehicle I have owned for over the last 20 years, even my very first car (69 Buick Riviera) had power everything.

Do I miss all the power stuff. Yes and no. It does suck a little at night when you can't see very well to put the key in the door. Sometimes it's nice to remote start on hot or cold days. But, that's about it for me.

I actually like the roll up windows simply because I never have to mess with having power to put them up and down.

It's just me and my wife, so the back doors stay locked most of the time, and jeeps aren't that wide so I can easily reach over and lock or unlock the passenger door. I have also learned exactly where to reach inside to the rear doors and lock or unlock them. Takes me about 1 second.

Also locking the door upon exit has become second nature.

I know this is an old post but the base models seem to have far less electrical problems.

So after years of vehicles with power everything, do I regret getting my willys sport. Not at all.

Love my jeep, with all manual stuff.

I had to look that one up. Granted, I'm not as in tune with the modern automotive market as others are, but I'd have guessed that Cadillac didn't offer a third pedal in their road couches. The first lesson here of course is that the brand has moved well beyond the confines of its legacy market and reputation.

Same here, brother, especially the part about bending my arm just the right way to unlock the rear doors. As for finding the keyhole in low light, a quick slide across the door's surface with my left thumb allows me to find the lock in about 1 second, too. One of my few quibbles with the Sport trim is that our buttonless fob should be smaller.

Just yesterday, I watched as my wife tested both door handles on her side after exiting the vehicle, to make sure the locks were engaged. I trained her well. 😁

I've trained my friends pretty well also. And even if they do forget it takes about 2 seconds for that "oh right the doors" to sink in and they turn back to lock them from the inside. 🤣

I had a 2020 JLU sport and loved the simplicity of it. I miss it sometimes.
