2020 JL Willys diesel - replaced my stock shocks with Ranchos RS9000XLs and I can feel every crack and bump on the highway.
Any recommendations for someone who sometimes goes off road but spends 90% time on hard surfaces? I no longer have my stock shocks

Was there a reason to replace? Not being critical just read some stuff about some rubicon shocks dying after a couple years.

No - was just looking to get lift - I'm a novice /amateur when it comes to modifying jeeps. Just knew I wanted 2.5 to 3 inches so I polled Extreme and found the Ranchos

If you want to lift it, you’ll have to replace the springs, or put spacers on your oem springs, shocks don’t lift it……

Okay - but I did lift it 3.0" and I now have Rancho shocks and feel every pebble. Was just looking for a recommendation as to how to keep my 3.0" lift but enable a smooth(er) ride.

Thanks

Did you adjust the shocks any? The 9000’s have adjustment dials on them. 1 is softest and 9 is firmest. I had them with their 2” lift on a 2020 JLUR and they were fine. I ended up setting front and rears to 4. Settings 1-3 is similar to OE ride. 4-6 similar to Rancho’s RS 5000x ride and 7-9 are for maximum control and towing.

I would start with shocks on lowest, mushy setting and go from there. Did you install lift?

Did you also install bigger tires when you lifted it? Most people do.

Every part of the suspension contributes to ride quality; tires, springs, shocks.
