AT 3 years doesn't mean much...it's just past that when most mfg warranties drop that actually tells you how well built it is.
Perhaps. But at 3 years ALL vehicles still have a factory warranty. It wouldn't be fair to compare vehicles that have warranty with vehicles that don’t.

Still, 3 years gives plenty of time to get a pretty good sense of who can build a reliable car and who can’t.

One of the annoyances I find when cruising the forums is negativity against the "Brand". And..Jeep forums are no exception. I get that people have issues, and want to vent, but some people continuously bash Jeep at EVERY opportunity.

Why stick around the forum spewing venom? And, why continue to buy Jeeps if the vehicles/company are so bad?
nothing wrong with jeeps a lot of them in forums are trolls probably Toyota lovers trolls I can easly get in other forums and troll that's
why take a lot of stuff with a grain of salt I have a 08 jeep jk 3.8l 150000 mi we beat it up at hidden falls and also have a 18 rubicon jl

Unfortunately the negative get brought up where the good often remains silent.

For example I just had a wonderful 1 hour drive with my son where we had a good talk about the birds and the bees and what he wants to do when he grows up. A 10 out of 10 chat. All good. Happened in my JL with the top down.
You had the top down in Maryland? Gees what's the temp there.. That's only 4hrs from me and I got 20s and 30s here..

Ahhh stop it.. We love our jeeps but don't want our kids getting killed in it while we are out taking them for a ride.

Funny, I just posted this comment on the steering thread,,,,

Cannot explain it but 36,816 miles in and I have yet to experience any of the steering issues described on the forum.
So we at least have one vote for the JLUR not being to dangerous to drive, or some even believing it to be a death trap!
I can personally say the theory that every new Jeep Wrangler out, ( because all are junk) needsto be thrown out because of a relatively smallamount of issues whatever those issues may be is a ridiculous approach. Mine has now been stock, over built, extreme off road, cross country driving and typical city driving. The only danger I've experienced has been the relentlessly STUPID Prius's on the road!
I agree, my jlur has 37,000 and some change and I've never had a problem with steering

We had one really nice day where we got back to the very low 70's. But you gotta take those days when you get them ;)

Now back down to the 40's.

Ilove my Jeep and all jeeps, period. I know it is not perfect. but it is n't a toyota where people think they are perfect but really are not. MY first jeep a 77 cj-7 golden eagle had the light switch die withinthe first week. had to drive home on the freeway form college got pulled over the cop let me go said something a bout a jeep thing. but after that no issues ever. It is a uniqe vehicle driven by a select group of largely independent thinkers and doers. Those that complain probably drive lexus or prius. Too bad for them.

An earlier poster listed his drive with his son top down and talk about he birds and bees, MY son i spast that age but we were fly fishing in yosemite driving around top down just talking and there isn't anything quite like it.

Actually what others think [U said:
is[/U] that important me. By far the biggest reason I come to these forums is to learn/share on Jeep-related topics. When non-stop ranters post, it confuses every issue with noise that's distracting and misleading. Basically, it's the little boy who cried wolf - when you have something important to say, I'm not listening because I tuned you out.

I'm not looking to dissuade anyone from contributing, but please quit banging the same drum over and over and over...

Ten new Jeeps under my belt, and a proud cult member!
I find that blocking the Keyboard commando/trolls/douches has been much better. Usually the haters that constantly bitch aren’t posting anything productive anyway. I haven’t seen a member yet with good solid helpful posts that also posts a bunch of hate or ridicule people.

Well people just love to complain.
I have been a Jeep guy for 12 years but this is my first Wrangler. With all of the problems on the JL reported on this forum it bothers me that someone says just move on. I am not happy that my JL sport S can possibly just die, allegedly because of some ESS fault that Jeep seems to have no idea why it happens. Seems that the JL has a lot of new systems that don't play together well. Really concerned that I need 2 batteries to keep this JL going. Whish the dealer could turn the ESS off. I am not paying the $$ to buy a programmer to do it. And yes my JL steering wanders also. Like driving my 28ft class A motorhome. So if you have legit problems please complain, maybe someone at Jeep will wake up to the JL issues seen on this forum

The forum is a place for everyone to voice their opinions. Not just the positive ones.
I love my Jeep and will continue to own Jeeps but that does not mean it's flawless.
Like someone already mentioned, this is a place of learning, exchange ideas, learn from other's mistakes and take advantage of the abundance of knowledge here. If someone really cared about the brand, bringing obvious issues to the attention of the people in charge is one of the best ways to help the brand's success.
Personal attacks aside, complaining about other's complaints is one of the most ironic thing one can do.

I tend to take a neutral stance, and not get suckered in by any of the comments here. And remember that balance of both side of opinions is what motivates change, drives development and allows the brand to continue to evolve.
Great point, and nice to read so many viewpoints. Another angle is that releasing/venting about some issues and finding others who share the same problems may be therapeutic to some degree, kind of like when a parent asks about their kids/babies symptoms and gets relieved that many experience the same things. Perhaps a very select few complain to the point where they would part ways with Jeep, but most I think love their "baby" and just want to learn and share the good, the bad, the ugly, which ultimately makes you more attached to the brand (IMHO). And bottom line, an average vehicle is assembled with roughly 30,000 parts, and NO manufacturer is immune to defects or issues. Many of the "dependable" brands, like Toyota and Honda, or any other brand you choose to call dependable, have recalls ALL the time.

OP here. Yes, please do post threads depicting your problems - that's helpful to all of us. My point was about the nonstop, constant, unending cacophony from a small number of people who choose to bring negativity to all of their posts. That's just noise.

Concerning the JL's no-choice proximity ignition (determining whether it runs or not) coupled with ever increasing incidents of screen failures, I'm now regarding the new JLs as I would a gorgeous blind date who insists on wearing old lady perfume after not showering for a month. Is it venom or a warning to stay away?

If that's ALL one talks about it's venom. If not, it's input. Just my opinion.

Using your example: If you choose to marry the blind date, and subsequently find out you were fooled by the perfume, just divorce her, don't ruin our day by complaining about her BO every f***ing day. Not all of our wives smell. :)
