Add me to the list for the backup camera not working, including the radio wouldn’t turn off. @JeepCares
I let my Jeep sit for a few hours then followed the suggestion on a post about waiting for the uconnect to process fully before putting it into reverse. The backup camera works and the radio will turn off. Did the sitting do the trick or allowing uconnect to fully process before putting it into reverse???

I havent had the issue return for a while but it happened again yesterday. My screen also stayed on for a few hours after the car was turned off. I can only assume an update was pushed out and these errors are the result of the update. If that is the case Jeep should have a screen pop up letting us know an update to the software is occurring; that would be the polite thing to do...

About a quarter of the time, I put it in reverse and the backup screen is just solid green. If I turn the car off and restart, the camera works again.

Certainly, julievp. Has it happened again? Send us a direct message expanding on this and include your VIN as well.

@JeepCares Add me to the list. My Wrangler is less than 48 hours old. Backup camera just completely crapped out. Went to dealer. They're unsure. Now I have to wait 5 days for service. Never had a new car issue like this before. Frustrating.

And 1 hour later it works again. Fun times!

@HipCheck

Known quirk!
Here is the deal on this quirk ... When you start your JLU, start it and wait say 8-10 seconds before you shift the Jeep into reverse. This gives the backup camera time to boot up completely. IF you do not give the backup camera the 10 seconds to boot up, you will face the issue you had again. As you saw, if you trigger the issue, it will resolve on it's own in short order.

Hi All. I will say one thing about this backup camera/radio not turning off problem .... when it happens while you are not in a good mood, it does not make life any better.

This morning I went out for breakfast. I have 2579 miles on my Jeep. I noticed immediately something was wrong. The Radio would not turn on. Once I got it on, it would not turn off. Then I noticed the backup camera would not work. I turned the car off and on several times before I eventually gave up and went to breakfast.

When I got back, I read this this thread and decided to let it go for a few hours. Just went out to my Jeep a few minutes ago (3 hours later). Both the radio and the backup camera worked no problems.

I seriously doubt this is a wiring problem. My IT instincts tell me this is firmware/software related.

Here's a couple of things, one shows how many concerns/known issues FCA is having with the radios and the other is a blue/green screen concern for the backup camera.

Thank you for this post. I will check out my connections if it happens to me again. I thought about my iPhone and if it was the problem.

I finally got my car yesterday and as I’m reversing to get out of the dealership my screen turns blue!
I quickly get my sales guy and explain and show him, he set me up for an appointment for this coming Monday, saying that it might need to be flashed. Today it kept doing it on and off when in reverse. This is ridiculous.

Now that this is federally required, report it here:

https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/Complaint.cfm

Note it could be the connector issue, above.

I have the same issue. I took to dealership, amd they said they could not duplicate. So the next morning, it happened again, so I recorded it. Here is just 1 of the videos I took.
