Recently got the latest S/W load. A week later, the backup cam guidelines are gone. Went thru the menu and selected and unselected guidelines, shut down and restarted, etc.. No joy.

Anyone have similar experience? Solutions?

Yea, they'll come back. Is this the first time yours has done this?

Same here, for reasons unknown to me the parking guide lines are either there or not, without changing any settings (got it set to show). Strange.

I've had my new JL80A for less than 2 weeks now. The backup guidelines come and go on mine randomly. There have been several threads mentioning this issue, so it's widespread.

Mine were back this morning. I'll check tomorrow. LOL.

Maybe the new s/w load has intermittent lines as a no-charge feature.

I have a 2017 Renegade with the 5" radio, and the guidelines have never disappeared on that vehicle. The 2021 80th Edition is 4 years newer, with the premium 8.4" unit and every day is a crapshoot.

Puzzling...

This is funny because I was just going to post about it. I noticed that the lines come and go on mine and was wondering where the checkbox is to turn it on/off.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with parksense. It seems like when things are beeping it has a better chance of displaying the lines.

In the menu under "camera" is where the setting for the lines is selected.

Same here....mine started coming and going around 700 miles. The camera also went dark and I had to hold the push the volume and tune knobs to the system to reboot...and it came back. It's like a box of chocolates.....

These backup camera lines are like a girlfriend I had once, on again/off again. Completely unreliable.
Now that my last two cars have had a backup camera I have come to hate driving a car without one.

Backup cams, can't live with them, can't live without them.

I talked to Jeep Cares and I am told that this is a software glitch in the 8.4" UConnect system. New software should come out Q2 2021 to resolve it. I have found that if I reboot the system, the backup lines appear 100% of the time, (until they don't).

Here is the reboot process:
  1. Ensure your vehicle is in park and in “Run” mode.
  2. Press and hold down the volume and tuner knob buttons at the same time.
  3. Hold down the knobs for 10 – 20 seconds.
  4. After holding down the knobs, the screen should flash your vehicle brand name and then go dark.
  5. After a few moments the brand name will return, the system will reinitialize, and it will return you to the main UConnect screen.
I hope this works well for you.

Great reply, so you are saying that it will resolve in a few months with another update? I wonder if it will be another OTA (over the air) update? Mine seem to occasionally disappear, but reappear after restarting. I'm just so used to them being there, when they are not , I think something's wrong.
