All of a sudden, my camera started looking like this when I put it in reverse. 2021 Rubicon. Anyone have this happen?

For those interested, the camera started working again, then it later went to this.

I pulled the cigarette lighter fuse, which I believe is also for the camera, reseated it and it started working again.

This was all going on while I was having an issue with my battery being dead yesterday after the Jeep was sitting for 4 days.

Now I'm wondering if the camera somehow could have caused the drain on the battery. At the moment, all seems to be fine. Who knows...

I had a very similar problem with mine back in October. Didn't have the horizontal scan lines as much, but the crazy colors on your screen were the same on mine. It happened in the morning and resolved itself by lunch time, but I have not had it happen again. Reminded me of when a VGA connector pin is bent or fried and a whole color is out on the picture.

OP, you may have done this but check to see if the camera is properly connected in the back tail gate. It could be improperly seated in the rear

It is a well known issue. My Jeep Compass Trailhawk did the same thing. They could only replace the whole radio/screen with a refurbished one. The refurbished one sometimes has serious delays. Sometimes it shows the backup camera after you have driven forward several hundred feet. Sometimes the screen won't come on at all but the radio will play, and sometimes nothing works. Luckily though, it was covered under my extended warranty, and once my 2022 Sahara comes in, it will be traded in.

I’d pull out the gaming cartridge, blow on it a few times to clear the dust, and then put it back in. Then hold down the “reset” button while hitting the power button to turn it back on. If that doesn’t work, try a cotton swab and some rubbing alcohol on the cartridge.

Hey, if it worked “back in the day?!” And to those of you who didn’t get this joke, you are obviously too young lol

I guess I don't know where the connection in the rear is. The JL is fairly new to me and on my old JK, I installed a rear camera and wired into the Unconnect myself so I was fairly knowledgeable there.

Well that's a scary thought. I'd hate to have a refurbished unit put in my Rubicon with less than 2K miles on it...

With newer Jeeps they may do something different, but they told me all they had were refurbished ones for a 2017 Compass Trailhawk. Warranty should cover it either way.

Glad it's working. I had a blank screen one time when in reverse. I pulled fuse 97 (radio) to reset UConnect and it fixed it.

So fuse 97 is for Uconnect then? There is not a specific fuse for the camera itself I guess, right?
