Asking cause I haven't actually looked for it yet...Taping of the aux negative cable- are you pulling the negative directly off of the aux battery or are you locating that cable from where it leads somewhere more accessible?

Exactly what does pulling F42 accomplish by itself? Will it affect the Aux switches or remote start?
My understanding is:

The start battery is connected to the vehicle electronics via a fused (f42) normally closed relay and the aux battery. In factory condition, the normally closed relay opens during an ESS event to disconnect the start battery from the aux battery/vehicle electronics.

Pulling the fuse prevents the relay from opening (i.e. disconnecting the start battery form the vehicle electronics), thus you can disconnect/remove the aux battery and retain all vehicle functions.

Started with pulling negative cable to aux and removing fuse. Taped the end and pushed out of the way....ran that way for 6 months...no issue....then had time and pulled battery from underneath jeep by pulling the fender well up and on the tire...had to replace to fender pins. I then used jscan to permanently delete the ESS...but still had to remove the hood switch which also takes out remote start. Jeep really has that ESS worked into the system. Did all this because went through two AUX batteries in under a year and did not want to spend money on two batteries. Still running the main and it is doing just fine...I do trickle charge it during the winter. I have had no other issues to date.
ONe of the best ESS delete explanations I've heard, thanks! I'm deleting mine soon too, don't have JScan, MiniTazer or anything yet and prefer not to have to use third party electronics to eliminate electronics. Which unit do you recommend if I had to buy one?

You removed the two hood switches at the grill? Unplugged, unbolted and completely removed or? Why did you have to remove them?

I used JScan which gives you directions to remove one of the hood switches. It does not entirely deactivate ESS, so switch has to be removed. I just moved it so the hood would not activate it. I believe some say the taser you can set ESS to always show as deactivated. So no pushing buttons or messing with hood switches

The Tazer sets ESS to whatever state it was in when turned off previously. No need to mess with hood switches.
Occasionally my Tazer fails to keep the previous setting, a very minor inconvenience.

I didn’t use JScan, Taser, or anything else. I disconnected one of the two hood pins and got a reoccurring messages on the screen, I put it back and disconnected the other one. With that one disconnected, I just get the message once, but then have the @! light on all the time. But I’ve gotten used to it. Hope that helps.

I know this link was posted previously but I keep seeing questions about how & why, what wire do I disconnect, where is it terminated, what color is said wire? This post is very informative & has excellent detail. The only way it could get any easier is if you could coerce someone into doing this for you.
If you have problems or want to tinker adjust, fix or eliminate future issues, just be sure to research & learn as much as possible before attempting any home troubleshooting & elimination.
One of my favorite sayings I use on the job is, “There is nothing wrong with asking questions, just be careful who you ask & always filter the answers you get!”
