You could buy that and use it if you didn’t want to make your own. I made my own and it’s lasted at least 2 years.

I made my own also.

However, more recently it's been discovered we can simply pull a specific fuse (F42) and accomplish the same bypass.

Exactly what does pulling F42 accomplish by itself? Will it affect the Aux switches or remote start?

Absolutely no idea why this thing is fused. It's already fused from the z-case array that it's bolted to. Should work fine, though

Pulling the fuse does not stop the ESS...it will still function by using the main battery. When pulling the fuse most also disconnect the negative wire from battery that goes to the AUX...tape it off and tuck it out of the way. What is the purpose of wanting to bypass AUX? I assume you don't want ESS??

Not necessarily. Some choose to still keep ESS available even with a single primary battery.

There are multiple options for disabling ESS discussed in many, many other threads on this forum. This particular thread is about an Aux bypass.

I think the main purpose is avoiding the problems the aux battery causes when it is going bad. Many forum posts on electrical gremlins (dash lighting up like Christmas tree, numerous error messages about abs, air bag, ess, lockers, you name it) and a large majority have been related to a bad aux battery. Also it's a pain to replace.

Im going to bypass mine when the new aux battery goes bad. It sucks having to buy 2 batteries as well. Over 500 bucks the last time.

Let us know if you have any ill side effects from it. And did you just pull the fuse or another method?
Started with pulling negative cable to aux and removing fuse. Taped the end and pushed out of the way....ran that way for 6 months...no issue....then had time and pulled battery from underneath jeep by pulling the fender well up and on the tire...had to replace to fender pins. I then used jscan to permanently delete the ESS...but still had to remove the hood switch which also takes out remote start. Jeep really has that ESS worked into the system. Did all this because went through two AUX batteries in under a year and did not want to spend money on two batteries. Still running the main and it is doing just fine...I do trickle charge it during the winter. I have had no other issues to date.

If you don't mind me asking what did you do with the positive and negative cables that you removed from the Aux Batt?

I left them in the plastic Aux basket in case I ever wanted to install again....not worried about short or spark because the black wire is taped off and not attached to anything so no circuit is formed.

Thanks for the reply. I asked this because I saw a youtube video where the guy connected the positive cable from the aux batt up to the positive main batt terminal and I wasn't sure what this would accomplish.
