Where is the cable?
I want to try to do same thing
If you go to the back of the tailgate there is a panel that you remove. The backup camera is the thick black wire with a white plug on the end. You just disconnect the white plug and you are good to go.

Yesterday I got blue screen instead of back up cam, then after backing up with no cam i put into drive and the radio starts the in and out, I switch between AM,FM, XM and CarPlay , radio on and off nothing, my doors are off so there is no way to turn off the radio to recycle, today same thing. The backup cam not working my be the saving grace to report it to NHSA to get Jeep to do something about this. I buy a new car every 2 years, nothing like this has ever gone on with my Porsche, Infiniti, BMWā€™s, this UCONNECT is a joke it should called luckytoconnect

I didn't scroll now through this whole thread. But it sounds I had the same issue, and it is fixed now.

PROBLEM WITH SIRIUS: Audio drops off frequently, for few seconds, it varies. Frequency varies also from many minutes to few seconds.
PROBLEM WITH FM: very rarely the volume fades slowly away and I had to crank it up to 30+ to hear something. The workaround solution here was to restart the car.

SOLUTION FOR SIRIUS: Brought it to dealer and they updated the Radio Software/Firmware. No more Sirius drop offs so far. Regarding the radio FM volume issue I need to wait and see if that is gone.

Hope that helps.

I have the same issue on my 2018 wrangler JL. Radio keeps loosing power periodically. Jeep Customer Carr told me to take Jeep into dealership for software updates but when I did radio would not accept update. I contacted dealership and customer care. They basically said there is nothing they will do. Just give me the runaround. I guess Iā€™ll have to live with this. But Jeep will never get my endorsement when it comes to referring folks to Jeep. My case file number is 59155142.

My camera was replaced in March....no problems since then, although the backup lines can disappear if you shift to reverse before the system boots up. But they re-appear at the next shift to reverse. FCA knows its the backup camera causing the problem.

Hi Mjmi69,
We understand why this may be concerning. We suggest having your dealer inspect this concern if you have not done so already. We are also available via private message if you would like any additional assistance during that process.

We're sorry to hear about the trouble you've been having with your Uconnect system, Buzzard67. We'd like to look into this a bit further. Please send us a private message at your earliest convenience.

We're glad to hear that you are not experiencing this concern anymore but please let us know if you plan to return to your dealer to have your back-up camera inspected. We'd be happy to assist with that process.

New to this forum but not new to this problem.
I have a 2018 JL Wrangler Unilimited Sahara with an 8in screen that had this problem all last winter (live in WI).
If the temperature dropped below 40 degrees there was about a 80% chance of the the audio glitch mentioned and the back up camera lines disappearing. And it NEVER occurred without the rear camera having an issue. I took my car to the dealer where they witnessed and documented the problem. They had it for approximately 7-10days and tried their best (even doing things like storing the radio in a freezer overnight to see if that was the problem.) They thought an update would fix it - it didn't. I opened a ticket with FCA Customer Care (case 58242576) and sent the rep (Teal) a video of the problem. They viewed it and tried to get me back to the dealer to evaluate but since it was April and temperatures going up, the problem disappeared. So they closed the case.
The work-arounds (shut off car, open door, push certain buttons) never worked for me.
And since it occurred even when then car was very warm with heat blasting I was always confused how it was solely a temperature issue.

Well it's 40degrees this morning and the problem has started again.
Having read this forum, it makes a ton of sense that there is a problem with the backup camera since it would be always subject to the outside temperature.

This is an obvious problem and the issues are all essentially the same -audio issue AND back up camera issue.
There are 21 pages in this thread and since the backup camera is the ONLY external component that fails when the audio glitches it would make sense that the camera is the issue.

JEEP/FCA PLEASE ADDRESS THIS!!!!

Iā€™m in the same boat as you. I had issues all winter and they all went away with the warmer weather. But as the temps drop in MN, the issues return. I did speak with a guy on here who had his camera replaced but that was in the spring. He said it took care of the issues. Iā€™m anxious to hear if his issues return. I also had a Jeep Cares case open but am sure itā€™s been closed since I had no issues all summer. Keep us posted.

On July 1st I had my camera replaced and had software update done - so far so good and itā€™s starting to get cold here in Massachusetts - my case is closed for now but they will reopen it if I do have a problem again - keeping my fingers crossed I wonā€™t need it :please:

I was waiting for this thread to kick up again once the temperature starts to drop. I'm sure mine will start acting up once it gets a bit colder by me. I'm curious if they will have an actual solution this year. My case was closed in the spring too but the weather got nicer, so I knew the problem really wasn't solved. At the time they replaced my radio, which I know won't solve the problem, but that replacement caused several other issues like my 1 year XM subscription. Took me months to get straightened out.
Not looking forward to having to deal with this again. Hopefully someone posts the TRUE solution. I have been waiting for a recall on some component to fix this. Although I really think Jeep does NOT know how to fix this.... yet.

I am also in the same boat as you guys... had the weather related problem all winter long.... but over the spring and summer had the missing camera lines but not the radio problems... So the dealership changed the radio,.... the problem with camera lines disappearing got worse.... so we ordered a new camera.... no problems since the camera was replaced.... Now i am waiting for the cold....

Hopefully i do not have this problem again....

Mine just started cutting in and out today. Iā€™m in So Cal and itā€™s in the 80ā€™s so itā€™s not weather related. My wrangler is 3 weeks old with a few hundred miles on it. What is the procedure to reset the U Connect ?...Id like to try that before driving to the dealer
