New backup camera was installed this morning, 3/18. We shall see if this does the trick. Dealer service department has been great to work with, also the FCA guy at corporate.
Let us know how that goes. Seems like no one in any thread has solved this issue yet. Hope this does it!

So two days ago, my Jeep Wave contact called me and told me a new radio was being shipped out on March 13th and should be at the dealer around March 15-18. I asked her if it was the same part number as now or different. She did not know. Yesterday, she called again and said the STAR engineers have found an 'Alternate' part for my vehicle and it should be shipped in the next couple days. I am guessing the 'alternate' part is the new radios we have been reading about.
Sorry to give you the bad news. I received one of the 'New' radios. Within a week the problem returned. they have now disconnected my backup camera to see if the issue returns. for me, the issue seems to show up when colder, and it is spring in NC, so the cold has gone away. Jeep Wave said a new software load was coming, but had zero details on when it will be here. You can read all about what they have done to my jeep on the other radio cutout thread.

Software update, new radio, new aux battery, new amplifier. Problem is still there.

I am in the same boat... Well they didn't replace the battery.. Seems many have had good luck with getting backup cameras replaced... I am contacting my dealer now to see if I can get a new camera per my STAR case.

UPDATE: (I posted this on the 5thGenRam forum, since I’m a 2019 RAM 1500 owner, experiencing the same issues as everyone here.)

Currently at the dealer for the recall repairs, and brought up the issue with the radio cutting in/out. The technician actually came out and spoke to me, and wanted more clarification. After confirming what the issues were, he came back and said that there was an actual memo from FCA of those exact issues. At this time, there is no fix, but the tech confirmed engineers are working on it.

He did mention that the current “work-around” is to disconnect the rear camera. Looking at the JL Wrangler forums, this seems to be the common temporary fix. FCA probably knows it’s a camera issue. The tech said most likely there will be a campaign (recall) for them to replace either the camera, harness and/or the module that controls it.

Of course, no ETA.

Thanks Ric3boy for the update...I have disconnected the camera for a few days cause we were on a little road trip and no issues at all.

I know I have had many hypothesis over the last few months but this camera one seems to be gaining some traction.

Good morning,
My dealer in Minnesota replaced the camera on March 18th....two weeks later and everything is operating great...radio and backup camera with lines. Now it was a three or four week period from the last time it acted up (before camera was replaced) but so far so good. My dealer and FCA have been really good to work with.

This camera issue is the first positive news I have heard. This morning we had a large drop in temperature and my issues started again. I went into the settings mode and tried to change the backup camera from "active" guidance to "fixed" just to see if this had any effect. It would not let me change this and would go back to active guidance on its own although there were no lines showing on the screen ... It appears there is some issue with the camera and the signal to the display unit. I have contacted my dealer to see if we can replace the camera and they are checking with FCA.

I would like to add that my backup camera was replaced on January 17th and everything has been working good since then.

In my case the tech says there is not a single backup camera available on the market.

My back up camera was replaced March 18th....3 1/2 weeks later and all has been fine. Can't say it is a permanent fix, but fingers crossed.
Even if the dealer wanted there is no camera available atm, and no ETA on when there's gonna be any of them available...

FCA = CRAP

can't you guys just unplug the camera feed from the back of the uconnect? does that accomplish the same thing?
That is what my dealer did. But then you are creating a safety issue. So you break one thing to fix another. Not what you paid for.
