Thingy B has more teeth but it fits the drain plug. Any risk of breaking the drain plug if I use B? Problem with A is that its head is too small for my torque wrench.

Not everything is a thingy. The one on the right is a 12 point 1/2" drive socket, it will work just fine.

12 points flex outward more and when that happens you lose contact area WHEN it’s on a hex, 6 point, bolt head and can result in rounding off the edges of the bolt head. Now if you had a 12 point nut or bolt head like typical with cylinder head studs, it is better because the load and distortion is more evenly distributed.

That said, for a low torque app like a drain plug, you’ll be fine but when in doubt, use a 6 point socket. Personally, I even use a 6 point on the drain plug.

If you don't know what a socket is called, and based on some previous threads, maybe you should pay a professional or at least take a class or something.

That takes 7/8" or 22 mm, pretty crazy.

Just cause both will fit, doesn’t mean it takes one or the other.
I assure you one fits better.

Which one? 12 point socket for 12 point nuts or bolt heads. 6 point socket for 6 pointed/sided/standard nut and bolt heads. But it really only matters in high torque situations, or unless you like marred knuckles, if that’s the case then use 12 pointed sockets on everything. Hope this helps, 😂

Wait a minute guys, I'm stupid, my torque wrench is 3/8" so A is the right tool. Perfect!
