I use them on my spare as it just sits there begging to be stolen and is somewhere around $750 worth of tire and wheel. I I use the locks on the top two and then put a couple of spray can tops on to keep them from rusting :)

I once had them on my BMW and a Discount Tire lowlife stripped one off. The stealer had a special tool to remove the stripped lug nut. Back then it was for a low price of $181. Discount Tire paid, but it was a hassle.

I don't know if the locks will protect it, but the fact that it looks possessed should keep the average paranoid meth-freak at bay.

Both Jeep dealerships here have them on all Saharas and Rubicons on the lots.

Considering they don’t really lock then no they aren’t worth it. I have helped a few stranded people with locking lug nuts who lost the key. I always tell them I can remove the lock but it will get destroyed. With no other options they always agree. I drive one of these ⬇ on the the lock with a hammer and twist the lock off like any other lug nut. When they realize how easy they are to remove they also realize how useless they are.

I've got a set of Gorilla lug nut locks on all four plus the spare. I'm sure a "professional" wheel stealer would have the tool to defeat them. But they should slow down the opportunistic meth head punk from stealing them.

I've got a 23 with the XR package. These rims and tires ain't cheap. I figure the price I paid for the locking lug nuts are a cheap insurance policy. Makes me feel better anyways.

Do the mopar locking lugs have different keys? Wondering because the wife got her jeep a few months before me and the lugs are keyed the same.

They likely have just so many different ones, every set being individually keyed would be incredibly difficult and expensive.

IE, my 95 Ram and son’s 98 Dakota had the same key.

people will steal the stupidest stuff. and thieves are lazy.

i use wheel locks not because they’ll stop anyone who really wants the wheels/tires, but because it makes it easier for some lazy creature to steal someone else's unlocked wheels.

I got the black Gorilla locking lug nuts because, to me, chrome lug nuts look strange on the XR wheels. And maybe a thief will steal the wheels off the other Jeeps in the neighborhood rather than messing with 23 splined lug nuts. 🤷

I take the same view of theft-resistant lug nuts that I do with hood locks and locking gas caps: the best I can hope for is that they compel the opportunistic thief to look elsewhere. I'm under no illusion that such items will protect against a criminal with the relevant tools and knowledge to make short work of things.

My minimum requirement when purchasing any such deterrent is that they appear sufficient to at least buy me enough time to discover the attempted theft (depending on circumstances, natch.) At that point, I'll take care of the rest.
