I'm trying to figure out how to tell what new wheels will do to my 2022 wrangler rubicon. If I replace the stock rubicon wheels with wheels that have 0 offset, and 5" back space, essentially what do I end up with compared to what I have now? Will the new wheel (and tire of course) move in toward the frame or out away from the frame? So far with all the charts I can find I only get more confused especially because the offset and back space are both involved. That and my ignorance on this subject leaves me completely lost. I would appreciate any help anyone has to offer.

Bill
0 offset and a 5" backspace makes me think you are looking at a 9.5" wheel?

17 x 9", close !!
so the outer edge of your wheel will be 45mm + half the distance of the wheel width increase (9'-7.5=1.5"/2) so the outside edge of the new wheel will be 2.5" outboard from where they are now.

For a very long time wheel spacers/adaptors have received a lot of negativity. Lots of advice how they are evil and will break whatever vehicle you put them on. You seem to have a positive experience with them. So, please help me out, how are they now OK?

—Respectfully
Doc Dave, yes, everything in/on my Jeep is fine; no deleterious effects from the wheel spacers. I only use 2” Synergy spacers; as “the other” Jeff @jadmt said in his post, only use quality spacers, and properly/professionally install them. Check the nuts with every tire rotation (every 5K miles, in coordination with my oil changes). Also, periodically check your suspension and steering components, tightening bolts and nuts and/or upgrading parts as necessary. I check at least once a year.

I have read a lot of those negative articles and posts, about wheel spacers, that you speak of. Most of them go on and on about how the increased scrub radius is bad for suspension and steering parts, the ball joints being the most prominent. Every article and post always recommends using wheels with offset/backspacing that moves the tires out, widening your track without having to use wheels spacers.

Here’s the thing, though. Any wheel with offset/backspace that moves the tires out ALSO INCREASES THE SCRUB RADIUS, with the EXACT same potentially negative effects as wheel spacers! That, however is RARELY mentioned in articles and posts.

Appreciate you response. It seems if you want to go with OEM wheels adaptors are OK. Thanks!
