Note a 9” wheel is 10” wide, so 0 offset is 5” BS.
See diagram and table included above for clarity.

It sucks where I live, having tread outside the fender will get you pulled over and a failed inspection. Definitely limits offset options.
I have 4.75 backspace / -6 offset on my sport with rubi takeoff suspension. Tire poke of about 2 inches on 17x9 wheels which I like - very stable handling. But this is just covered by the fender flares I put on, so no inspection issues. ? So there are options if you are in a PITA inspection state.

……………….. so if I go with 3 1/2 inch backspace that means the tire will stick out 1 inch more ( past the fenders ) than a 4 1/2 inch backspace would………..Is that correct? Thanks.

Use this https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/
Stock is +44 mm offset, 285/70R17

Careful comparing your Rubi to a non Rubi, different width axles and fenders.

2022 rubicon two door…. Going with 37×12.5 tires and 17× 9 wheels….. what is the backspace and offset that is needed….. Also will I need to run spacers? Thank you very much for your help.
3.5 inch backspace if you want to do full flex, do not listen to these guys. Anything less will get you full rub. I am running the same rim and tire, and I do not get any rub in full flex.

Regardless of what you end up choosing, bump stop extension is what will establish your clearance. I’m not sure what comes with the TF kit, but some kind of adjustable bump without removing the front springs is nice. Whether that is 1” increments like the MC or some kind of air bump.
