We like the Alpine system. Replacing the dashtop speakers makes it even better (crisper highs).

I have the Alpine system in my '21 and I've always thought it sounded great. My son, who's an engineer, commented on how great it sounds. He drives a Mercedes.

Go to the dealer and listen to them and decide. I like loud music, especially with the top off. For me, the Alpine in my 21 was ok, but I immediately had to upgrade to better dash speakers because I'm on hands-free calls a lot and the audio for my calls was harder to hear. Once I did that, it seriously improved the overall sound quality with the Alpine. I still ended up replacing it all with the Fosgate Jeep kit, but I really like my tunes. Only you know you and your budget. Make sure to factor in the head unit also. The base unit is only good for listening to AM radio sitting in a parking lot.

Another vote for the Alpine, and replacing the dash speakers for $70-$100. My hearing is shot (30 years Army), yet the Alpine is clear throughout the volume range - and I have yet to be able to tolerate full volume while blasting blues, southern rock, etc. Clarity is phenomenal, considering the noisy environment of the Jeep. The sub literally vibrates all three mirrors.

I have the alpine as it came with my trim, I didn't have to make a choice between the two or I'd be in the same position as you. I upgraded my upper dash speakers and all roll bar speakers. Cheap and easy. Had a local shop add a sub in a box, disconnected factory. Not cheap but easy. I love the sound. Glad I have the factory amp, everything is is crystal clear and plenty loud. Even with top off I've never felt I needed more volume.
Another thing to note is how you listen to music. I download music through Spotify at the highest quality I can, done through the settings. There's a difference when I listen to XM and hear a song I have downloaded on my phone. Radio/XM isn't going to sound as good but has nothing to do with the speakers

I bought used and the Alpine system was one of my requirements. It's my second one and it sounds good to me. Probably easier to upgrade also with the sub wiring already in place.

Worth the money on upgraded speakers? What brand are these?
@20OBMJLURR These are the Kicker 77KICK25AB speakers that many forum Jeepers have installed. They are plug-and-play. I paid $75 (pre-tariffs) and the highs definitely sound much better. :)

I had two jeeps one with the Alpine and one without. Hands down the Alpine is superior in sound to any of my previous vehicles I've owned.

23 JLU Willys XR 2.0T. Ordered it the way I wanted with the Alpine system. I'm not an audiophile, but I think it sounds great. I also upgraded the top of the dash speakers (about the easiest speaker swap I've ever done).

I guess you could spend thousands to upgrade your stereo. But would you get a huge difference in sound? Could that couple thousand be better spent elsewhere on your Jeep?

I think unless you add a bunch of sound deadening to the inside of your Jeep, there will be a point where the stereo's sound is about the best you're gonna get no matter how much you spend.

I am now questioning how deaf I really am  . Before getting hearing aids I frequently listened to Alt Rock and Metal at full volume.

As for OPs question. The Alpine is good but will not be enough if you are an audiophile.

My last JL I went with a component setup up front and sized up the mids from 4 1/2" to 6.5" . Then added an amp and a small sub. While my last JL did sound better, I don't feel the need to swap out the Alpine in my current JLU for an aftermarket setup.

My son's 24 JL does not have the Alpine upgrade, and I find it lacking a bit.

2024 2 dr willys ( with factory alpine sys) ...add some pillow filling ( less than $5 from Hobby Lobby/Michaels) inside the roll bar speaker area ...remove the covers, remove the big speaker and push pillow filling (fluff) inside the cavity ( both sides)...don't pack it in too tight....just enough to fill the space...good mod for less than $5...hth

Go Alpine and change the dash speakers. That works for most people. The Jeep has so much wind noise from stock that you need the extra stereo power to listen to the radio. I needed up changing the sound bar speakers and the sub woofer as well as I wanted to hear the difference. Yes it was much better but if you end up selling the Jeep in three years you will lose all this money in the trade. I am going to keep my Jeep for a long time as it is nearly perfect now with all the sound insulation and audio upgrades that I have made.

🤔
Planning a build of a new 2025 Willys Wrangler. Looking to add most all of available options.

But am now questioning whether it is worth adding the Alpine setup which lists for $1595. What do you get if ordering this system versus the standard you would get without it? A local specialty shop that installs audio systems, has told me that they get Jeep owners coming in that have the Alpine deal and they want something better.
Their setups run around $3500.........Wouldn't I save money to just get the base radio/audio and then get one of their systems versus getting the Alpine which (I have no clue personally), but am being told many are not satisfied with
Alpine system gets you slightly better dash and soundbar speakers, and subwoofer, and a 552W 12 channel amplifier. While it's better than the base audio systems, for $1500 you can build a custom system that'll be much better than the factory Alpine. I replaced my soundbar and dash speakers with some 6yo JBL components that I had previously installed in a JKU, and they sound way better than the factory Premium Audio, powered off the factory amp.

My 2024 Sport has the Alpine system, one of the items I wanted. Works pretty well and fills the cabin with decent sound. I don't think you will be disappointed.
