Planning a build of a new 2025 Willys Wrangler. Looking to add most all of available options.

But am now questioning whether it is worth adding the Alpine setup which lists for $1595. What do you get if ordering this system versus the standard you would get without it? A local specialty shop that installs audio systems, has told me that they get Jeep owners coming in that have the Alpine deal and they want something better.
Their setups run around $3500.........Wouldn't I save money to just get the base radio/audio and then get one of their systems versus getting the Alpine which (I have no clue personally), but am being told many are not satisfied with
I have the Alpine system in my 2024 Support S and love it. It beats the hassle of aftermarket.

I went with Alpine in both my 2020 and 2023 2Dr.... the Alpine is a large improvement over the basic system but doesnt quite cut it with top down... prob just fine with the hard top on 24/7 but when I take freedom panels off or doors off or slip to soft top in spring the Alpine doesn't cut it and spent about $3500 on upgrades all around (kept the head unit, added 6 channel amp and replaced front and rear speakers)....

... just for reference the oem Nakamichi system in my 30yr old '94 Lexus SC400 blows the new alpine system away as far as sound quality and volume. .... so there's that

I have the Alpine option in my '24 Willys, just because it came with it. Never had much to compare it to until our rental Jeep didn't have it last month. Hands down it is worth the $ over the cost of ownership, the stock system is garbage.

I love the Alpine system in my 2024 Wrangler Rubicon with the subwoofer. Perfect sound for the vehicle. I am a bit of an audiophile and I love the system in my Lexus... but for my Jeep, Alpine is what needs to be in in.

I added it my Willys build recently as well as my 2021 Sahara when I ordered that. I'm not 20 years old anymore so that Alpine is perfect for me with the additional subwoofer...I put almost every available option in my Willys except for the sliding roof which I have no interest in....I know people that always change their radio even with new because they're looking for I guess a very loud crisp sound. The factory Alpine is more than enough for me..

The Alpine system is expensive for what it is, but the personal value is I don't need or want to touch it or replace it, and it offers a full range of sound at reasonable listening volumes. Just enough bass to still be a thug in a grocery store parking lot. It has enough volume to listen to a few songs loud enough like I'm 18 again.

For $1500, would I like it to sound better than it does? Yeah, but this is Stellantis and "good enough" is kinda what they do these days.

While it doesn't blow me away or anything it is pretty nice. I think it's also an easier starting point for upgrading as everything is already in place and you just have to swap in what you want rather than hacking anything up. Like many others I just swapped out my top dash speakers on my JT and JLR. I find it is good for (soft) top up or down. I don't listen to music super loud, usually around 20 with windows up (depending on source) and 25 or thereabouts when top/doors off. I also use earplugs when on the highway with everything down because I like my hearing, honestly wearing them helps me hear my music better doing 60+ on the highway with everything off. I do find it sufficient though, don't plan on replacing anything else since I'm not sure it will help a whole lot.

I have had both options and for me the premium audio is a hard pass. 1) I don't notice much of a difference between the two (they both suck) 2) I have the top off the Jeep most of the time so I can't even hear the speakers anyway and 3) if your Jeep is ever in an accident and totaled, insurance is not going to give you $1,500 in value for the premium sound option on your Jeep. Premium sound, 4-Auto, Headliners, and front camera are all not worth what they cost. I would add ACC to that list of things to avoid as well but I think it is standard now.

What do you mean about the insurance? Obviously, you won't get full cost as new, but that applies to everything on a vehicle and the vehicle itself. Insurance is just going to look at the blue book value, which factors in options so a vehicle with it would be worth slightly more than one without, but nothing is worth what it was when it was new. Are you saying the audio system sees a particularly disproportionate reduction when used?

Depends on your insurance company and options. When I totaled my 2024 Willys, I got the sticker price for a 2025. I have optional Auto Security Coverage, which provides replacement value for the 1st 2 years and better replacement after that, which provides up to 150% of the actual cash value, so you can purchase up to a 2 year newer model with less mileage. When I bought my 2024 Rubicon X, the only money that came out of my pocket was part of the shipping from Louisiana and my payment is within $10. Once I refi it will be about $30 less per month.

IMHO, the "premium" sound system is acceptable. barely. and I mean barely. The base sound system is atrocious. I am planning on upgrading speakers throughout at some point.

If I had the option for the base model and then bought an upgrade, I would have done that instead but the Rubicon X defaults with the Alpine system.

When my JLUR was totaled, Geico took the value of a base JLU and then added "plug numbers" for the extra factory options mine had to determine the value (taking into account that my Jeep had just been featured in a car show two weeks earlier due to its pristine condition). :

Auto transmission package cost me $2,500, Gecico valued it at $500
LED light package cost me $1,465, Geico valued it at $75
Leather seat package cost me $1,625, Geico valued it at $400
Safety group cost me $995, Geico valued it at $200
Tow package cost me $845, Geico valued it at $100
Steel bumper package cost me $1,745, Geico valued it at $0
Hardtop package cost me $1,545, Geico valued it at $500
etc. etc.

In all, they gave me 21% of the original value of my dealer upgrades.

One thing to note is that this was in 2021, back when used cars were selling for more than people paid for them new. And yet apparently the vehicle that scores the highest in resale value, depreciates by 80%, according to Geico...even though my cost to insure it went up every year I owned it. 🤷‍♂️
