There are a number of Bronco trolls trying their best to highjack this forum, just ignore them and stick to what this forum is about - JL Wrangler Forum.

The Bronco is a majestic flop, ugly, poor build quality and a really bad wanna be Jeep.
I have nothing against the Bronco. It actually seems kind of cool. However, this whole thing about the Bronco having come back is what confuses me. When I was a kid Jeep CJ's, Wranglers, were all the rage. They still are. Bronco's however, from the 70's to the end of their reign, was never a "big" deal to anyone I new. The first Bronco was interesting, the next Broncos were simply Ford F series pickups with caps and a seat on the back. More or less. Then the Bronco 2 came out. It was kind of nice, but no major excitement from the magazines or any real Bronco off road clubs. When the Camaro came back, yes, it was a big deal. As are the Mustangs, the Land Cruisers etc. Those were special. So I guess I just don't get all the Bronco hoopla. I might add we just placed an order for the Mustang Mach e 4wd electric for my wife. So nothing against Ford, it's just not a JEEP, and that's my point.

Yea, I agree, but I live in an area that's always been way more into jeeps than broncos.

I think it's not necessarily the bronco itself that's such a big deal, but the whole "offroader lifestyle" vehicle segment that's just booming right now.

Front end looks nice, the rest looks like a standard "suv" body.

Yea, the front is cool. I'm not really a big fan of vehicles with their names spelled out in large letters on them, though. There are a couple broncos in my town, and from the back they look just like jeeps. The side profiles of the 4-doors look really similar, too.

I just saw a Bronco with a spare tire cover that said "Since 1962". I tried to snap a pic, but the driver was darting through moderate traffic for every half a car length of gain. That statement is meant for something that has endured the years. Ford marketing at its finest. It should read "Since... sometime after your hammock arrives".

People getting upset that there are other vehicles other than Jeep that are capable off-road is hilarious. It’s like being pissed off there’s also Raspberry jelly at the store when you like Grape. Bronco isn’t the competition I’d recommend but it’s there and they’re trying.

This whole conversation is sounding like a Wrangler JL vs. Wrangler (insert generation). What's better or worse and thus the people that drive either.

I bet there's a CR-V vs Rav4 debate somewhere too.

In the end, the Bronco is the best thing to happen to the Wrangler. More competition only improves the breed. People might not think the Bronco is competition but it is when it comes to the number of sales that the people that run each division have to contend with. They know that most Bronco and Wrangler owners are just like pickup owners. Rarely use them for what they were intended for. Instead they navigate the urban and rural jungle, with a 1 mile drive on a gravel road to a winery on the weekend. Only a select few use them off road.

On the other hand, the aftermarket is super happy with the Bronco. More doo-das to sell people.

This article is probably the most fair and non biased that I have seen so far:

https://www.4wheelparts.com/the-dirt/2021-ford-bronco-wildtrak-vs-jeep-wrangler-rubicon/

The photos are from the article and show the difference between the two suspension setups.

———————————-
edit: To be fair the Bronco will off-road and it is probably the second most capable stock off-roader on the market.

There is simple no denying this fact. But as someone who has driven both, I still prefer the wrangler.

Car reviewers will only see the virtue of the Bronco’s on road driving feel and will always give the edge to the Bronco.
Shocker, this is where most off-road vehicles spend their time.

The Bronco will appeal to all the BMW converts who want to look tough, but will never see the dirt, the soccer moms who want something different, and anyone else who never plans on seeing a trail.

And for those that actually do off-road them, 75% of the time, they will have no trouble keeping up with the wranglers on the trail.

Honestly in time the argument over which is better will be moot. Ford created the narrative that this is a wrangler killer.

They have payed a lot of people to say just that, and payed more to sell-out influencers who were former wrangler enthusiast to push the Bronco over the wrangler. People like @justinbmcbride who were given one by Ford, while saying “in no way does Ford giving me a Bronco mean I will be unbiased in my reviews.” I’m pretty sure by accepting a Bronco and agreeing to be an “Ambassador” you just became biased.

Influencers aside, in a year all of that will die down and people will no longer be excited by the Bronco’s newness.

For a lot of people the dull boring experience of driving the Bronco, which feels a lot like driving a Honda Pilot, will draw them in and Bronco ambassadors will tell them which amber light works best in the mall parking lots.

For the rest of us, I still say we should celebrate this improved “explorer” as it will likely mean some marked improvements to the wrangler. So when you hear morons say wrangler killer, know that it actually should be called the Wrangler Improvement Marketing Platform, or WIMP for short.
