Alignment tweaks

i'm having our jeep aligned tomorrow and generally they'll use spec unless you ask for something different. i have a 2-1/2" clayton lift with adjustable control arms on 35s should i have them shoot for a different caster angle ? some people are finding a sweet at 5-1/2 or 6 degrees.

My caster is right at 6 degrees and it's a 2 dr sport w/ 2" lift and I can run at 80 mph w/ just a finger on the wheel. I think you should have them adjust your caster to at least 6 (and up to 6.5), that seems to be the sweet spot. Some run 7 or even greater but then pinion angle comes into play.

If they are hard core and insist on adjusting only up to the high point on the spec be adamant that you want at least 6 (let them know you know that that's "over" spec).

Depending on the shop, they also may need to be reminded that you have a FAD ( front axle disconnect) and the front driveshaft doesn’t spin in 2WD, so no reason to worry about vibration with a little more caster…….

Im at 7 degrees and happy with my fixed LCAs. If I had adjustable Id shoot for 6 to 6-1/2 degrees.

From a Jeep Wrangler engineer… “at least 6 deg caster and about 1/8 toe OUT they drive much better”

Toe out???? I’ve seen others say toe in about 1/8”. Jim from dynatrac recommended toe in as well.

Interestingly enough i thought the same thing. I am currently at the shop getting my jeep fixed post mc 3.5 game changer lift. It was following ruts in the road terribly. They toed me out and it is way better post test drive I just did. Having them increase my caster to 6.5 (currently at 6).
