We have a 21 Rubicon Unlimited, I installed a 2" lift and 37" tires. Been looking for ways to improve the ride, added the Fox stabilizer and that helped some. But still has the top heavy teetering feeling. Met a guy from a local fabshop that does badass work on Jeeps. He recommended a long arm kit, said thats what I had to have if I wanted a quality ride, I rode in his Jeep and it was night and day difference from mine. However, the 14k price tag for the lift and shocks is just wayyyy out of my budget. Here's my question, the man told me I could buy all the parts and put them on myself and save money, but if I had it aligned by a shop that just goes off the factory specs then I would be wasting my money. They aligned them way off from the specs and thats where most of the improved ride and steering came from. If I had that kind of money to spend I would gladly pay the man the money and let him work his magic lol. But I don't, so do any of my JL guys on here have some alignment numbers I can take my shop and have adjustments made on my already lifted Jeep? Another shop told me that you can make a short arm suspension ride just as well, just need to get it lined up right and said he thought the made some sort of ball joint shim that help with the angles. The only thing my lift was is springs, longer sway bar links and shock extensions. I'm in the process of upgrading shocks now..

Sorry for the long post!

Can you provide a link to the specific lift you installed? We need to know all of the components included with the lift to provide you proper feedback and suggestions.

Caster may be off and your axles may not be centered. This is from my limited experience installing a RK 2.5” lift on my 21 Rubicon XR. I had to adjust my control arms to get the caster right and the trackbar to get my axles centered.

I thought I’d heard that long arm kits aren’t necessary on JLs unless you start getting into 6”+ of lift. It was more of a JK thing since they had shorter control arms to begin with.

Maybe somebody more knowledgeable can weigh in? It might be they are just trying to sell you a high dollar kit you don’t need.

Lol well it wouldn’t be the first time. I was hoping you’d weigh in though. Thanks for getting me straight.

James.......Now you know what a lifted Rubicon should ride like. I'm afraid you won't be happy unless you install a long arm kit.

Option: Maybe a Teraflex bolt-on Alpine IR long arm kit

If I knew I was going to keep this Jeep for more than a couple years I would definitely go long arm. The ride is night and day As you found. It is that good everywhere.
With your current lift I would get adjustable control arms as stated above and start with 6 degrees caster and 1/8 toe in. very easy to do yourself.

In looking I found Iron Rock does a front only long arm kit that doesn't look too hateful to install, what are your opinions on doing the front only?
