I had to resort back to using an aftermarket CB Antenna Mounting Bracket. I was using an antenna mounting provision that the Mopar Heavy Duty Spare Tire Mounting Support provides but unfortunately, the Mounting area is too thick/deep with material and can not accommodate the Firestik mounting hardware. The thick mounting area will not allow for significant thread engagement with the antenna cable stud and the antenna mast lug.
I knew this could be a problem and sure enough, I lost my 5 Foot Firestik II antenna, Quick Disconnect, Spring, and Lug, somewhere in the Red Creek Wash near Bloody Basin yesterday on a Jeep group run because of the low hanging tree branches in the wash. I was fortunate that I had spare parts available at home from previous installs to get me back on the air whild I order replacement parts for spares.
In the attached picture you can see the support bracket antenna mounting provision just to the left of the Girestik assembly.
On the Trail run, I was able hear some CB traffic on Ch. 16 and their traffic led me to believe they were a couple of off-roaders somewhere in the Bloody Basin/ Sheep Bridge areas. It appears that I am starting to hear more off-road CB radio traffic.
Oh, please ignore the dirt. It was raining off and on this morning so I'll wash my Jeep tomorrow morning.
