Dealer called and said your 2024 is in and pick it up tomorrow:

A BIG THANKS to Ratbert for his magic spreadsheet of where to get good deals...7% below Invoice, $500 military, 1% Tread lightly and some bonuses for total of about 10% below.

Its a 200 mile round trip from Port Charlotte, FL to Lakeland Jeep in Lakeland FL.

I drive out and the TPMS is not working properly. OK, Dealer tells me don't worry be happy and bring it back and it will get fixed, we tried to fix it and its not working right number #1

I go back for another 200 miles and go to leave and its not working again # 2...BIG thanks for Lakeland who filled up my tank with gas. Again

I go back for another 200 miles and go to leave and its not working again # 3...BIG thanks for Lakeland who filled up my tank with gas. Again

I go back for another 200 miles and go to leave and its not working again # 4...BIG thanks for Lakeland who filled up my tank with gas. Again

#5: Drove out, looked good, hit I 4 and BINGO not working again so I call Lakland AGAIN and they are embarrassed. They enough is enough, we are coming to get your Jeep and bring it up here, fix it, test drive and deliver it back to you, WE ARE SORRY.

So what went wrong? The MECH who has been working on it. In spite of Lakeland wanting to replace my TPMS units, the MECH DID NOT, and DID NOT every time it came in even after they had ordered a new set. The MECH claimed it was Poor programming...REALLY so you could not program it x 5 times and he never replaced them.

My Jeep has 1605. miles on it and 50% of the miles were driving back and forth to LakeLand FL. They are a good dealer, and I will buy there again, their MECH, need more oversight! LOL they told me they 3 full sets of TPMS sitting on the shelf for my Jeep. The MECH just did not want to change them.

You are a patience person. But what else could you have done? Glad to hear it finally got resolved.

Jeep may have changed TPMS again. They did it back in June of 21. Maybe the new part hasn’t pushed to the service system yet?

are all four not working?

You are FAR more patient than I. After the First trip back and no correction I’d have been having a heart to heart talk with the GM.

That's a lazy damn tech. It should have been road tested and after the second failure any defective TMPS should have been replaced. Surely the CJDR diagnostic equipment should have told the tech which sensor was not functioning properly. It takes 5 minutes to change. You don't even have to dismount the tire from the wheel or re-balance.

I sure hope that TECH got the talking too he/she needed. The Service Department either makes or breaks a Dealership!

The sensor, which is observably larger than the valve stem to which it is attached, is embedded inside the wheel. How could it be replaced absent tire removal?

Sincere question.

Hi,

Can understand your frustration, my 22 I put Mopar Performance rims with new Mopar sensors and 35 12.50's on my JLUR, well a few months ago one sensor would error out then work the next day. Seems bad they went bad in a year and a half, my wife's 2015 JKUR still working.

I had a Tazar to update tire size and eventually got feed up with rhe lights on the dash and turned the tire sensors off no more lights.

Good luck getting it fixed, but a Tazer should fix it, also any dealership should be able to fix it.

Regards,
Jim

Remove tire wheel, deflate and break bead on tire, remove sensor and install new on. Air up tire and replace on vehicle.
Fixed it. I knew what you meant though.

The tire does not need to be removed from the wheel. There is enough flex in the sidewall to access the sensor/valve stem. Mark the position of the tire relative to the wheel, make sure those marks align when reinflated and there's no need to re-balance.

Sounds like that douche*waddddd should have been sent home for a couple of days. When the ”tech” then starts pissing, moaning, groaning, whining, and belly aching about his check for the week….perhaps he could then reflect on his future attitude toward earning an honest day’s wages for an honest day’s work.

Sorry your new ownership experience started off on the wrong foot, @Old Jeeper

The tech failed to do the job he was directed to perform 3 times and the service manager failed to check up on him the second and third time? Sounds like they need to correct this and hire a new tech and service manager for recently vacated positions.

There's a dealership in Punta Gorda that could take care of your warranty work...You don't have to drive 200 miles back each time.
