Looks like you went through the bolt holes in the front of the top, what did you attach to in the rear?
I vote that anything at the hinges, are the topsy brackets.. I do t know of anything else.
Yup, Topsy brackets in the back.

I would like to come up with a slicker way for the front.
I just use a loop of cord through the bolt holes, its solid, but a bit futzy getting them in.

I built my own with about $120 worth of parts and a pair of Topsy Brackets (highly recommend). It would work on pretty much any ceiling height.

I have an 8 foot ceiling. The Top Lift Pro works great but definitely more costly than a winch system.

I got the top lift but it seems very unstable with the 4 door unless you are perfectly level, wants to fall forward. I guess I'm doing it wrong somehow.

Hi Tom, that was a concern of mine as well. When I first got it I lifted the top, rolled the Jeep up 10 feet, lowered the top, went in front and actually pulled down to see if it was close to tumbling off without the stability bars. Thank God it was on there good. I think it’s just such a bulky top. Plus I’ve read plenty of threads and never seen one where a guy lost his top off of that unit. I did see one where a guy using a winch twisted his brand new top and shattered his back window.

No. I haven't seen that one. I just used a trailer winch, cabling, pulleys, a lifting strap, and Topsy hooks. I have a two-door garage, and I need to work around the door motors. Plus it allowed me to "over-engineer" it for a little piece of mind.

8' 4" garage with the harkins hoist from amazon work perfect for me. Wife can pull the top off by herself.

I looked at that..
It looks complicated, was it, to setup?
I'm assuming that it has a self locking cam, so it doesnt come down..lol

If you read the directions the are very specific about where the hooks are setup. I didn't have any 2x4's on hand so I just backed the jeep in saw which cross beams would work, made sure they were equal distance, and tried it expecting to have to fix it later. It worked great so I have not worried about adjusting it and adding 2x4's

maybe that is the key, to lower it before I try to move it.

A lot of good solutions offered in this thread. I second the Harken. I wanted to go with the Racor/Topsy combo but I was concerned about my relatively low ceiling height.

The Harken is easy to install and simple to operate.

Just make sure you measure joist spacing before you cut the lumber. If I recall correctly, the directions assume a certain joist distance and suggest 6’ boards, but mine were further apart and therefore I needed longer boards.

Once I swap over to soft top, I leave it there all summer with no issues. Quality product.

We have an 8’ garage ceiling. I repurposed an old bed frame that my neighbor was throwing out to make our hoist frame. Bought the Topsy brackets for $25 and their rear lift straps for $15. The hand crank is a harbor freight 1,000 lb rating for $30.

The other misc. hardware I had laying around the house including a ratchet strap for the front, nuts/bolts, and spray paint.
