Just wanted to make sure you 392 guys know what’s gonna happen should you line up against a 4xe.

Also hoping the guy is a member here and browses the 392 section. We chit chatted for like 1 second at the next light.

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/drag-race-4xe-vs-392xr.96663/#post-2001968

So I was out cruising in my new 4xe. Sadly I don’t get much free time to enjoy it. Either I’m in too much traffic, have kids with me, or just too busy. I took it out at 10pm to just do some spirited driving.

So I’m driving in the left lane of this 6 lane rd, going a little faster than traffic. Then this jeep pulls in front of me. He didn’t cut me off, but I had to slow down. The kind that bothers you a little but he wasn’t really being an ass.

So then he politely moves over for me after he passes the vehicle in the next lane. Then the traffic light hits. I thought it was just some run of the mill v6 or 2.0 rubicon. I could not hear the v8 at all and I had my doors off. I get next to him and I turn into a little kid and think alright, I’m gonna surprise the hell out of this guy and show him this is no ordinary jeep, ya know make him jealous a little. I was already driving in esave with traction off and in 4auto. I know how to launch cars and I’m good at it.

Then the light turns green and I punch it. Then I look over, and there is the freaking jeep doing the same exact thing and it’s staying next to me, and it’s a damn v8! I was surprised as hell. So I actually pulled on him a little up until the 1-2 shift, then he jumped about half a car length ahead because our slow AF trans tuning. I started gaining on him just a tad through the 4xe’s ridiculous 2nd gear, maybe a few inches, but I wasn’t losing ground. I didn’t see his tail pipes until around 55mph. I think I stopped around 65mph. Little does he know he’d start pulling away hard after that.

I’ve never even seen a 392 in the wild, and the first time I do, it’s a picture perfect coincidental red light drag race. I was surprised how close it was.

My 4xe had no doors and a soft top. He had full doors and a hardtop. The guy looked like he had 50lbs on me too. I don’t know if it was an xr but it looked like the tires were bigger than my rubicons. I suppose it could have been a tire upgrade. It was dark out.

4xe did way better than I thought it would. I’m sure if that guy brake torqued the launch, it would have been a different story. I think he was pretty surprised too. I hope he’s a forum member, that was fun as hell.

Let it go, dude.
Considering there is no evidence of a single drag race on the internet of the 2 quickest jeeps ever made, I thought it was pretty interesting. I tried to make it as detailed as possible to compensate for the lack of a video.

4xe is no joke. This guy took his to the drag strip last summer. First people were embarrassed that they got beat by a Jeep. Then they died inside when they realized there was only a stock 2.0l turbo under the hood.

Lol the guy most likely wasn’t even racing why would they. This happens to me every time I drive my Chevelle. I built it to outrun a 2020 Corvette and it can.

He definitely was racing lol. I’m probably like 5.3 seconds to 60 with doors off and near empty fuel, which means he was like 5.0-5.1 to 60. Pretty sure nobody casually leaves a redlight and does 0-60 mph in 5 seconds.

Was he not racing in the sense of he didn’t brake torque it, yeah. But he definitely had the same idea as me.

At least I responded! Not sure why you would double down on the first post.

Because 3/4 of the 392 owners probably only visit the 392 section. Most of them would probably find it an interesting story.

On my other sports car forums, there are “kills” sections dedicated to these stories.

I don’t even care who responds, just informing people of interesting data

Unfortunately this is a Jeep forum. The amount of owners interested in drag racing is miniscule as your first post proved. Is there a single 392 owner wishing they had bought a 4xE instead?

Everybody who bought a 392 cares about drag racing and fast cars.

I’m not sure the number of responses is indicative of how many people care. There is not much to discuss. I laid out every little detail.

And no, nobody would rather have a 4xe cost aside, including myself

That drag race video was kind of fun to watch. The new electrics are surprisingly quick. I need to take my TRX to a drag strip someday to have fun. All I ever seem to have challenge me when I'm in the TRX is someone in a Diesel pickup truck that he has hopped up, and thinks it is fast. Usually, I find out we are racing at the other side of the stop light, when he is half a truck length ahead and I can see a ton of black smoke rolling out his exhaust. About then I actually give the TRX some throttle, to show them that their truck really isn't fast at all, LOL.

The running tally between the TRX and competitors, and the 392 and competitors so far is:
TRX = 9
competitors = 0

392 = 2
competitors = 0

Haven't owned the 392 very long yet.

This is the first stop light drag race in my life that both parties decided to floor it without any sort of pre-indication of getting ready to race. Crazy coincidence.

I have a pickup truck friend that is exactly like you describe. He thinks his 8.1L suburban is fast.
