Nothing sounds better, short of uncapped. But they are “Loud” as well as “Good”. When I pulled up to work a new guy on the heavily insulated refrigerated dock with blasting fans the door opened and his head poked out to see where the rumbling came from. :CWL: He had a nice 340 Duster, we became good friends.
I would love to have a 340 Duster. Those 340’s put a lot of big blocks to shame.

340’s were giant killers. My buddy had a 68 Swinger, 340, 3.55’s with a 4 speed, fast little car.
@Dusty Dude , yep, a healthy small block in a small light car. I had the Chevy version, a 66 (only year) Nova with the SS, L-79, close ratio Muncie, posi pkg that was nicknamed “poor man’s muscle car” and “Mighty Mouse”, competitive with low tier BB’s- 383, 389, 400, 396 (except the L-78). My USAF buddy had the GTX, I thought my Chevy was keeping up with it until about 120 when he smiled, waved, and left me like I slammed on the brakes. When it was stolen and stripped he offered me the GTX for the insurance and took payments. He had gotten married and couldn’t afford 6 mpg hwy, 3 city on minimum 100 octane. …. It was still accelerating at 170 mph when the front end would achieve lift off , might have used the 200mph (and maybe some change) speedometer if it could be kept on the ground. It could have done better if it wasn’t cool to crank the torsion bars up for the “Gasser” look, aerodynamics, ehh what’s that ? 3 ~ 170 mph runs having never heard of speed rated tires either.

😳
Not so sure Chrysler didn’t use the 66 Nova 327/350 as a model for the 340 Darts and Dusters.
440’s were bad ass!

Good engine, I liked it enough to use one and the Muncie from a wrecked Vette for my 63 Jeep. Just upgrade the Chevy weak point lifters, *intake, carb, ignition, add headers and they would run with the solid lifter engines without the PITA.
* the early ones had a decent aluminum high rise, the late ones back to iron and de rated 25HP. I think the compression dropped from 11-1 to 10.5-1 too. The 396 killed them. The Nova was 66 only because, unofficially, it could outrun the new 67 Camaro, until the L-78 was added. It also had as much power as the lesser 396’s which is, unofficially, why the 25HP derating.
Automotive PR Politics.

No doubt, like the secondaries on the Firebirds Quadrajets not opening up completely.
Can't have a screaming chicken out running the GOAT!
I really loved Pontiacs too and had a few, bastards made some serious torque.

No experience with Pontiacs, uhh, other than embarrassing them, especially GTO’s, with my Nova, (and my Corvillys Jeep). My favorite, I got a GTO by a nose, the passenger was laughing and asked, whatcha got in it ?. Me “283” 🤭, he was nearly in tears laughing, and you should have seen the driver 😖 . Or the 57 Chevy “gasser” straight axle, tilt front end, tunnel ram, etc. after another by a nose he disappeared for several weeks, the next time he showed he had a BB in it :CWL: A sleeper, Nova’s weren’t expected to go until the BB ones.
The Super Duty Firebird I went to the dealership to hopefully order “Sorry, it can’t be sold in California “

Some subjects get considerable airtime. If we joke a bit about it at a new member's expense, it's usually in good fun.

To address your inquiry, I've nothing but praise for the 2.0T/8-speed auto combination in my JLU. I test-drove three separate V6s, but just couldn't find a love connection with that engine. Get some seat time at the dealership, if you're able; possibly that will assist with your decision process.
Agree. Drove the V6 in 4 door and 2 door, not bad but nothing to write home about. The turbo 4 was our choice. Silly quick, great mileage, and the turbo whistle.

I bought a used Ford dinky car for city use and let the jeep nap in the garage between outings. Yes, more $$ up front. Yet I estimate dinky costs about 1/3 as much per mile.

Living in Los Angeles were worried about our gas mileage and crappy gas prices. Looking for Rubicon two-door or four-door and I'm debating if I should go 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder. I drive 30 mi a day to and from work and I'd like to go out and explore so cal as much as i can. I know the six cylinder is reliable as hell, but what about the 4-cylinder? Does anyone have any pros and cons for it?
I have the 2.0T As far as what gas has to use , the manual states 87 regular is fine but if you are towing anything or in Hot temperatures use Premium gas .
The 2.0T has power , I can’t speak about the gas milage because I have factory 35 inch tires which seem to be disrupting my MPG . Welcome to the forum !

Guys, have you noticed, you have to floor the Pentastar to get power out of it, it doesn't do a thing in less than 3000 rpm 😁 And since that Pentastar engineer said frequent WOT runs are good for it so I enjoy reving it, my oil pressure hits 82 psi many times a day 😁
Not at all, the V6 has more than enough power troughout its powerband. Unless you put bigger tires and cheaped out on regearing your axles….. so my guess is you did things half way and now commenting on how you have to floor it to get it moving. Build you Jeep the right way and your mods won’t have adverse effects.

NA engines need RPM to breathe and fill the cylinders with air/O2.
One advantage a boosted engine has is it can fill the cylinders at a lower RPM, this does however make engine knock easier to occur.

I had a similar experience one night;
I was cruising with my girl in my beat up 73 F-150 long bed that my dad and I had replaced a blown 360 with a 69 428CJ.
The 428 (in pieces) was .060” over with a .030” .030” crank (been around the block a few times), 427/425 cam and headers. Needless to say it ran pretty strong.
Anyway, we pull up to this light where sits a sweet 67 Camaro with a lumpy idle. I asked the dude if he wanted to run it and of course he nodded and proceeded to increase his rpm, shit, he’s got a stall converter!
Light turned green and we were off, when we shut down around 100 I had about 3-4 cars on him.
He was pretty cool, said, “what do you have in that thing” I replied, “a 360”. 😳
Dude shook his head, smiled and drove off.

My best and worst was with my Corvillys Jeep. A showing off loud mouth jerk with a BB Mustang complete with the tunnel ram etc. annoyed me so much I punched above my weight. Figured if he won Congratulations, you beat an old Willys Jeep, but if he lost, Humble pie. Pwr-Wt and 5.38’s won the short run through the gears. ….. cost me a Muncie main shaft, trans dropped on my hand and broke it. …. Proud Member
