Long story but somehow my '20 Ocean Blue manual Rubicon magically transformed into a '22 Tuscadero auto Rubicon that my girlfriend now drives. My daily for now is a Charger Redeye, which is fine for the summer but not such a good choice year round somewhere that snows. It's a few months before I need to make a decision but trying to figure out what my options are, and the only thing I keep going back to that I don't think I'll get bored of is a Wrangler.

The catch with the 392 is the height. My parking garage at work lists a clearance of either 75" or 76" depending on what entrance you go in (which doesn't actually make any sense, but I digress). The normal Rubicon fit fine, but it wasn't the best feeling to drive around.

The listed height of the non-XR is 74.5", 0.9" higher than the normal Rubicon. I'm not so sure I like the idea of having 0.5" of clearance. Has anyone actually measured the height of a 392 in person rather than just looking at the spec sheet?

Just measured my new '23 100% stock non-xr 392 (picked up last Saturday). I came up with 75" empty (no load/passengers) so the listed 74.5" sounds about right. Mighty tight fit in your parking garage and a definite no-fit if you play with tires or suspension.

I just measured my 22' 392 (non-XR), which has 35x12.5 KO2, which is truly a 34.5". The stock tire diameter is 32.7" (285/70R17 KO2). This places the difference at 1.8", or ~ 1" of lift.

It wasn't a perfect measurement, but I saw 75.5", which is in line with the measurement you found of 74.5" when you factor in the tire size.

Mine is also equipped with the sky one touch top, which has a slight curve to the roof line that a standard hardtop would not. As such, I measured at the center of the Jeep.

One thing to consider as well, is since you likely have a lip in the concrete going into the garage, it will lift the one axle up slightly on your way in. I personally would be quite concerned pulling into a garage less than 77", so all stock, 76" is really really close.

Set a 2x4 on edge of your rubicon and drive around in there if it gets knocked over then prolly stay away from a 392. My Toyo 35”s 392 is 76”. Because you can’t order a “new” 392 without 35s. But bfg 35s are itty bitty 35s.

Height goes up fast if you start messing with the suspension. My 392 XR has a 2 1/2" Metalcloak lift, and it measures 79.5" tall, riding on 37s. Yours might just fit stock, but don't plan on any alterations.

Any chance you can park someplace else at work? I would hate to see you miss out on the fun of a 392 just because of a parking garage.

Thanks all. Seems like the answer is what I didn't want to hear.

The parking garage next door would work. But it's a public garage vs a private garage.

Maybe some day. But not just based on ability to fit vehicles in garages lol

Coincidentally this morning I followed in what looked to be a slightly lifted and on bigger tires JK. The back of the soft top barely rubbed on the sign as they went in. Maybe I can convince the local dealer that has had one on their showroom floor for a while to drive it over and try going into the garage
