Hi guys so i'm currently deciding between a 35 inch tire vs a 37 inch tire on my 2021 JLU willys, and i'm not ever going off road. This Jeep is strictly for road use. I also plan on getting a 2.5 inch teraflex spacer lift with a 1.75 inch wheel spacer. Mainly im just wondering if a 37 is a bad idea? Im only a kid and my parents blessed me with this new Jeep and I really want it to look badass lol. But I have no idea how to deal with like the balljoints or whatever or stuff like that. Also I don't plan on doing much else besides the tires and the spacers. I also heard that the 37 inch bfg ko2 are lighter and potentially run smaller so I'd probably be going with those (there was a photo comparing a 35 nitto trail grappler and 37 ko2). I also plan on keeping this Jeep for a longggg time so I dont wanna cause a bunch of issues so early to owning it.

edit: i pretty sure i have 3:45 gear ratio and I don't plan on regearing either. I also have 2.0 turbo and also after reading some things I think ill just end up going with 35s :(

double edit: actually I saw someone run a heavy and big 37 on stock jlu willys no regearing and said it was fine, but also if anyone could give me any clarification on the 37 bfg ko2 cuz I heard they smaller so will that be fine, Or if anyone has an Idea of a bigger 35 inch tire but also lighter (ik thats kinda counterintuitive).

If you’re going 37s, the k02s would be the way to go. It gives you a 35.5” tire and you can still tell your friends you run 37s. 2.5” spacer is exactly 2.5” nothing more. Several 2.5” lifts raise the vehicle over the claimed height so you’ll probably have someone tell you it’s just fine but it’s probably not. You can add extra bump stop to avoid hitting the fenders as a bandaid. I run a Milestar Patagonia 37” tire on my wife’s 24 Willy’s and a 3.5” lift which in my opinion seems to be the sweet spot. She still rubs just a hair on difficult trails, but not enough to care about fixing it.
3.5” on 37s for reference

Forget the lift, just get 37’s and longer bump stops. When you get older you can get a lift

Doesn’t your 21 Willys have 3.45 gears ?
You just might want to search some gearing threads. You haven’t mentioned drivetrain. If 3.45’s , without at least 4.10’s, I wouldn’t consider 37’s, and really, not 35’s either (unless a diesel). Do some homework before making a possible mistake. A big one if a manual. 🤔

This 👆 is spot on. You will not want to run 37’s on 3.45 gears.

heck I would be a bit hesitant to run 35's with 3.45's. I have 4.10's and 35's and wish I had 4.56's....

Stock Willy’s w/ 3.45 gearing but many say it should have the Rubi 4.10 from the factory.

Regearing simple math:

(New tire size / old tire size) * orig gear ratio = new gear ratio.

35 / 32 * 3.45 = 3.77 which isn’t available so round up to 4.10.

that said most agree the rubicon 4.10 hearing is more appropriate for the JL with 32-33” tires so…

35 / 32 * 4.10 = 4.48 so round up to what’s available = 4.56.

37 / 32 * 3.45 = 3.99 so again at least 4.10 but if 4.10 is optimal for 32 - 33” then
37 / 32 * 4.10 = 4.74 so look at 4.88

I think it does have that, but I did do some research that said it wouldn't really be a problem on 35's but idk maybe it would fuck it up on 37s

well the nice thing is you won't have to worry about being inclined to engage in any drag races with your friends so the odds of getting a speeding ticket will go down.........If you are happy with the peppiness of the vehicle with stock tires now, just know that with 35's it will be doggish and with 37's it will be more like a turtle driving around......they do look good tho :). one way to go is get some Toyo tires as they have a 45 day /500 mile return policy if not happy for any reason....

My biggest worry tho is if it will damage the Jeep in the longterm. Obviously 37's arents ideal but If anyone has suggestions to smaller 37 or a bigger 35 that would be nice. But yeah i just dont wanna mess up my ride, Im afraid once I put on the 37's itll just collapse within a year or the powertrain or trans will fucking die on me or something lol. Ik its not that extreme but yk what im saying.

If you must get 35’s with 3.45 gears follow @jadmt advise and get Toyo AT3, 35/12.50/17/C. The lightest 3 peak at 59 lbs, lighter by 5lbs to the next lightest (KO2’s) I could find. It goes up from there.
Edit- maybe GY’s between them.

hey it is a jeep chances are it will have issues regardless..........Mickey Thompson's run on the larger size for 35's compared to most but Interco or pitbulls run the biggest.

Another option are the Nitto Recon Grappler 35 x 11.5 r 17. They fit stock rims and weigh 64 lbs. They are load C.

Yep- but 5 lbs heavier for 11.50’s. I ran the Toyo’s on stock 7.5” wheels without issue (DT did mount) waiting for back ordered 8.5’s for 7 months 🤨. Rotational mass is not his friend trying to run 35’s. I have seen 285/75/C at 34” with 3.45’s, they look much bigger than 33’s from the pics posted…. (OP hint 😁)

my only issues with the Toyo at3 in 35x11.5-17 is they were a bit short and did have a stupid howl at highway speed. great tires otherwise. I ran the Toyo RT in 35/12.5-17 at the same time and they were actually quieter and a bit taller..also great tires....fuggg I have spent a lot of money on tires over the years lol
