Just a general question, do ya’ll drive in 2H all the time and 4H when going off road, or do you leave it out of 2H?

if you do use 2H all the time, is it ok to drive down the road at 70 mph on 2H?

I have never done it but I’m seeing some that they do.

Unless you have the 4 Auto option what else would you drive in on paved roads other than 2H? 2H is your every day option for driving (again unless you have the 4 auto option) and going 70, 80, or 90 in 2H is perfectly OK
Thx Rusty, I bought my Jeep used about 3 years ago(2018 JLU Sahara) but have never seen 2H illuminated. It was only when I was in the woods when shifting to 4H that I accidentally shifted all the way up into 2H did it illuminate. I know this all sounds pretty stupid but it is what it is lol.

Thx Rusty, I bought my Jeep used about 3 years ago(2018 JLU Sahara) but have never seen 2H illuminated. It was only when I was in the woods when shifting to 4H that I accidentally shifted all the way up into 2H did it illuminate. I know this all sounds pretty stupid but it is what it is lol.

Are you saying you've been driving in 4H for 3 years?
I've also never seen 2H illuminate, I didn't even think that light existed.

Do you have one of those fancy 4Hi auto things?

If 2H isn’t illuminated or if it’s flickering, read this thread:

You want to only use 2H (2 wheel drive) on dry pavement. ie Everyday driving.
2H should be illuminated.

Only use 4wd offroad as needed or driving on slippery conditions (snow, mud, etc). The road surface must have some give when using 4wd.
Ohhh I just remembered I’ve also driven a Willy’s that had 2Hi illuminated and remembered it odd. My Willy’s sport doesn’t.
I think all sports with the black and white digital center screen don’t. Then when you have the color center screen it says 2Hi.

yeah I haven’t been driving it in 4H… and I never really use 4H unless I go how into the woods and need some extra traction. I just can’t recall ever seeing 2H illuminated ..

yeah I haven’t been driving it in 4H… and I never really use 4H unless I go how into the woods and need some extra traction. I just can’t recall ever seeing 2H illuminated ..

On-road, I'm always in 2H. Unless there is rain/snow, I then switch to 4H.

Absolutely. Driving at any speed is not an issue whether you're in 2H or 4H.

If you were in 4H on dry roads all the time without CV joints and Auto4, you would know it taking one turn...
What was weird was after coming out of the woods and I have never had this happen … it’s like it was no in gear. And when I went to accelerate… the engine just rev’d. And I finally got it to go. But I never saw 2H highlighted.

Yesterday I went down the road and it did the same thing and I couldn’t figure it out unless I was in neutral obviously.

I have since this morning gone and put it in 2H. So going forward like I have always done .. put it in neutral, pull down to 4H in the woods and I should be fine. Then when I come out just put it back in 2H.

I’ve done this before for 3 years and it’s never been a problem I’ve just never seen 2H illuminated … or I’m just dense lol
