First Post- Nice to be here and thanks to the admin for allowing me on.

I am on the fence about ordering a Rubicon X with 35’s. I had a Jeep many years ago and have driven 4X4 my entire life, some good and some terrifying on the highway. Anyway I am curious about the road manners of the 24 Rubicon X ? It would be a daily driver and used on the highways about 25miles every other day. I also try to take a vacation and i always drive there so I am curious about an occasional long trip.

Go for it. I have a 2019 Rubicon with 315/70/17 (aka 35s) with a 1 1/2” lift with 4.56 gears.
So basically a rubicon x. Not sure if you are looking at a 2 or 4 door but with a 2 door this gear set is perfect. Also since new I can very comfortably cruise the hwy at any speed and this Jeep tracks straight as an arrow down the road, without any or very little steering input. I have made road trips of 2k miles, with the best comfort a Jeep can offer. Maybe consider 4.88 if you’re looking at a 4 door, so do some research into that.
I also have the v6 non e-torque motor with automatic transmission (my choice of power train) that I believe you can order with the Rubicon x.

My BB is GONE! My 2021 loaded Rubicon 2 door got rear ended by a drunk driver. She was my dream Jeep and by todays build and price that Jeep mirrored the 2024 Rubicon X. Even though it only had a little over 20,000 miles at least 5,000 were off road with the rest being highway miles. I loved driving it even though at times it drove on the highway like a Jeep it drove like a Cadillac off-road. After being totaled a couple of weeks ago I’m desperately looking for a Jeep dealer that will order a 2024 2 door Rubicon X to replace BB. ANYONE out there know of a dealer in Texas that will place orders below invoice or at least give a positive ordering experience? I’m going through off-road Jeeping withdrawal!

i am looking at the automatic V6 as well. Curious why you think a 4 door would need 488’s ?

There's no getting around the fact that Jeep Wranglers drive differently than other SUVs on the road. The solid front axle, track bar/ drag link/ tie rod steering, driven by a recirculating ball steering box is kind of a mechanical marvel of new and very old-skool technologies.

It takes more tending, there's more of a dead spot in the middle, bumps affect it more, and wind gusts, as well as passing trucks sure, but also ordinary cars create wind bubbles that notably affect the Jeep.

If you want the most comfortable relaxing drive on the highway, pick something else.

Now, that said, folks can and do get used to that. I've had my Rubicon for less than a year and have over 25000 miles on it. My Jeep, like most Jeeps that don't live on a farm, ranch, national forest, or trailer, sees a lot of highway miles. Many of those highway miles taking me to destinations where there's some 4 wheeling to be done.

For me, it's worth it, because the off road capability makes the compromise in on-road capability worth living with. But if I just wanted a rugged look while sometimes venturing off on dirt roads or using 4x4 for traction in the mountains, I'd pick a different ride.

I'm just one guy on the Internet.

Don't trust every opinion you hear.
Don't believe everything you read on the Internet.
All advice is definitely advice.
But not all advice is right for you.

Probably might not need 4.88 but I haven’t driven one with 4.56 either. I’m just wondering about the extra weight of the 4 door. Extra cargo weight as well.

Looks like South Point Jeep in Austin is you HOPE of getting a super deal.

That said here is how I buy a car, any car.

If I don't a dealer then I make a list of dealer within about 100 mi of where I live. Then I build a map to optimize my travel time and head out to dealer 1.

I am at the dealer 1 and I go straight to the lots with the NEW Jeeps. Sooner or later a sales person will show. He say can I help, you say yes I want to order a Jeep.

Well lets go to my office.

NO need to. Here is my offer: 2024 Jeep Rubicon X. I will give you Invoice (-) any incentives I qualify for such as Military for $500. I will be on a CLEAN Deal, meaning no lifetime Window Tint.

Sales guy will say: OK great lets write it, or NO we cannot do that, or you will need to talk to the SM or GM.

Then you can go to an office.

Next conversation is a repeat of above and if not you walk out and and go to dealer 2.

I wil guarantee you will find a dealer that will do it. How do I know? I done it time and time again. The most I have eve paid for a car since my first ordered car in '78 was $1000 over Invoice on the 2001 Z06 Corvette. Down the street in Dallas was Friendly Chev and, I went there first as I was in the Corvette club of Dallas and by being a member I could order the Z06 for $5000 OVER MSRP, not a member it was $10,000 over MSRP.

I stopped in at a small dealer, the GM told me they did not have any allocation for Corvettes as they did sell them. The GM said if you are will to put down $3k I will call the Zone Manger and see if I can get an allocation. I said sure, not a problem. He goes, come out, you got a Z06 Corvette, now let's place the order. I said that is easy, every single option to include Museum Delivery. FYI, that was the 3rd Corvette I bought that the dealer did not have an allocation but called to get on.

Just remember there is ALWAYS a dealer that wants to make a sale

I have been hunting the deal and found Gupton offers the best deal by far. They got my business. I just don’t want to have buyers remorse. As mentioned earlier the solid axle. All of my experience with solid axle 4x4 were 40 to 60 year old vehicles. Which were not very well lifted. So these were the vehicles I was referring to as being terrible on the road. I was young and really did not know better. I want to test drive one but there are none around here with 35’s.

LOL Brother you were living in the world of LEAF SPRINGS. That is a BACK BONE KILLER, after driving them from 65-95 I said never again, then the TJ came out in 97 and I traded in day they arrived at the dealer in Dallas. Coil springs are the answer.

You will like it!

Yes they were all
Leaf spring setups. Favorite was an International. But that thing would want to eat Volkswagens. Whenever on passed it would automatically swerve towards them.

With my 2.0T non-eTorque and 8 speed auto, 4.10 feels perfect with my 35x12.50 MTs, 2.5” lift, and all of the heavy aftermarket things attached to it.

I’m considering the Rubicon X as well. I currently have the 2021 Rubicon Ecodiesel, which is great. I had a 2018 Rubicon with the 3.6 with the automatic. I felt it was a little underpowered with the standard tires and 4.10 axles.

The Rubicon X would come with the 4.56 axles and larger 310 tires. I compared it to the 4.10s with the standard 285 tires with an online calculator. It showed the 4.56s with the 310s would have the engine runnings at higher RPMs for the same speed. I’m curious from those that have the Rubicon X equivalent, if the power is better than the standard 4.10s and 285s. Thanks in advance.
