Your decision is really going to come down how you wheel and your mechanical aptitude to upgrade in the future if you choose the Willys. While the Rubicon transfer cases and front lockers are readily available and can sometimes be found for a reasonable price, labor to install them can be expensive. Do you have the ability to install them yourself?
Additionally, you need to ask yourself if you are ok voiding some of the factory warranty on those parts. Maybe not that big of a deal. But something to consider.

Either way, you can’t go wrong. If I had a Willy’s, I’d have plenty of fun with it until the warranty ran out, then would mod it as needed.

Me personally, Rubicon for the front locker, sway bar disco, 4:1, and potentially better resale.
I personally am not too worried about the front sway bar disconnect as I'll probably be doing pull pin quick disconnects anyway. My question is how often am I going to need a front Locker
I agree and love my Rubicon. Needed the front locker several times when running in KY & TN. IT's easier to save the winch for when the lockers aren't enough.

Willys, its the sweet spot for most folks these days even more now than it ever was... the 24's come with the 4.10 gears as well?
It really is the best deal if you don't care about the lockers or sway disco. Very capable on most trails bone stock.

Is that a below invoice or MSRP price for the Willys?

Made this exact choice 2 months ago, because you have to option the 24 rubicon up, finding a 23 would be the way to go for sticker power. But 4.10, d44 and locker Willy’s wins. If I had it to do over, would have optioned the alpine. Since purchase we have done all the work your talking about and wheel it.

If you can do it yourself, I'd buy the Willys and upgrade it to Rubicon capability. My two cents.

Order the willys IMO. Upgrade the front locker as/if required, I doubt you'll ever care about the transfercase ratio, the 1gear ratio is pretty low in the JL.

Do you want the fancy screen and new grille? Then go Willys if not go Rubi

I'd go 24W and add manual discos. Not sure if it's true, but I heard manual disco has more travel.

So you went with the 24 Willy and built from there? After looking at both of them and making the choice do you regret not getting the 23R, have you run into anything Wheeling where you would have preferred to have the R versus w?

The consensus when people ask if they should get a Rubicon or not has always been to get the Rubicon.

The electronic disconnect, the upgraded sound, remote start, heated seats, soft top…would be nice, but no nothing the Willy’s isn’t enough for. Yes we built from there.
