In theory, all of the current 2022 orders in the pipeline must be completed on or before August 31, 2022. All production starting on September 1, 2022 has to have Automatic Emergency Braking installed. This is most likely why they are seriously restricting 2022 orders from now to June 15th, they can't go beyond the 31st for any leftover '22 models that were not ordered with the Advanced Safety Group. In some cases they have been notifying buyers that their '22 orders are being converted to '23's, but it should be noted that those orders will include AEB.

If anyone has an order in for a '22 without the Advanced Safety Group, if it is going to be built at all it will be built before the end of August. No exceptions. As for Gobi, there's always a chance that they will extend that color for a bit into the '23 model year, Snazzberry straddled two model years for example.
Why must they be completed? They would just roll over to '23s I thought.

Also, where does it say '23s have AEB? I can't find a source for it anywhere online. I can't find any documentation that anywhere in the states that it has to be there, other than it was proposed in a bill, and I don't see anywhere from Jeep that it is moving that way. NHTSB doesn't have anything on it nor could I find any article that says it's mandatory other than talking about what the bill proposed.

I've only seen 1 or 2 people here crying the sky is falling on this 1 but no evidence anywhere. If you can provide anything I'd appreciate it. Until then it's all fear mongering and stick shaking at the sky for me.

Isn't compliance still voluntary? I haven't seen anything to indicate that Stellantis has agreed to it (yet). Lots of other manufacturers have.

Was Snazberry released as a limited edition color option like Gobi? How many months did run if so?

Sounds like they ran out of the fancy Rubicon stickers they put on the hoods, probably tried to use felt-tip pens but it took too long.
Those damn people with Sport and Sport S trims ordering those Rubicon stickers

Went to submit my order this morning and dealer told me the '22 Rubicons have been pulled from the ordering system. Maybe to make way for the '23 order opening up in June?

Super bummed.
This is fake news, you can still order them but they’ve neutered the avail options. Wife and I went to order today but you can only get the 3.6 and limited color options. Ended up buying a lightly used 20 Rubi instead.

A dealer posted a video last week stating the 3.6 is no longer available to order for either the 2-door or 4-door Rubicons. However, you can still get the 3.6 on lower 4-door trims..

At this point it is voluntary:

https://www.nhtsa.gov/press-releases/nhtsa-announces-update-historic-aeb-commitment-20-automakers

The "voluntary commitment" that FCA has made says that starting with most vehicles made on and after 9/1/2022 they will be equipped with AEB. I've never said the sky is falling or anything like that, my comments on this forum have really been in response to the multitude of folks that are trying to predict what changes FCA will make to the Wrangler in 2023.

All I've been trying to say is that one noticeable change for 2023 Wranglers will be the current option of the Advanced Safety Group being made standard across the board, and, well, frankly an associated price increase to cover that. That will start on all new Wranglers produced after 8/31 and I'll say it right here, if FCA doesn't do that I'll be shocked and surprised.

Full Disclosure: I ordered the Advanced Safety Group option on my 2022 Rubicon. I don't think it's a bad thing at all, and I was willing to pay extra for it. Now, making that mandatory by arm twisting by the NHTSA, well, that's a different issue for me and probably best not discussed on this forum.

Is Jeep technically part of FCA as of this article? I would think they would mention them as Stelantis if they were going to do some stupid umbrella thing. This is the kind of thing that would push me to get a Tazer so I can turn it off permanently. With the horror stories I've read about (Jeep's, at least) the implementation of this I want nothing to do with it. Maybe in another decade or so when the tech is better. I want no part of the Advanced safety group. Regular saftey, sure, I ordered that on my JLR.

Also, if I came off like an ass, sorry. I just re-read my post, I wasn't trying to make you out a bad guy, I just haven't found anything stating we'll get it.

They apparently signed the commitment back in 2016: https://media.stellantisnorthamerica.com/newsrelease.do?id=17381

Currently working with Koons on a JLUR order. The only option so far that we cant get is the XR package. We’re loading it up pretty well, let’s see if it goes through lol. The only six banger available now is the Etorque unless you want a stick. Color options rn are pretty dismal.
People keep posting no more sixes or Rubis but two dealers are telling me otherwise.

I see the Wrangler is conspicuously left out. I wonder if that's because the system was only in the Wrangler starting with the JL (18+)? Either way , I hope they don't truly intend to push that crap down our throats.
I was focusing on this:

The announcement comes as FCA US joins 19 other automakers today in signing the Automobile Industry Commitment to Implement Automatic Emergency Braking Technology.

If the voluntary 'agreement' was made by FCA back in 2016, would they even feel compelled to honor it after ceasing to exist as a corporate entity due to the PSA merger? Think that would give them some leeway if Stellantis decided it was something they weren't willing to do just yet, at least on all of their vehicles.

Considering the chip shortage and rising inflation over the past few years, it just seems kinda dumb to force expensive (and un-mandated) advanced safety tech on consumers that don't particularly want it.

Stick that goofy shit on your posh 50-foot Grand Wagoneer buses, but not on your off-road rock crawling machines largely bought by traditionalist auto enthusiasts.

Well, let’s think about this. That’s two months. 2023 orders begin on June 15, less than one month away.

And there are many, many reports of slower builds than yours. Mine is 4 months + and still not shipped.

I don’t understand why some believe they can still expect to order and receive ’22’s now. All the recent constraints on orders are clear signals from Jeep they are backlogged and this model year is basically done.
Definitely too late now, appears I just squeaked in. Ordered April 20th and it's already shipped. Due to my dealership first or second week of June. 2022 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon XR. It must have something to do with options selected???
