It just depends on when yours was built. It was a running change at the very begining of the 2026 MY. I think anything built from December on has the new style brackets and, some November builds are mixed.I got a 26 Moab and it has the older single bracket on the passenger side. Weird they are all different.
Thanks for weighing it.No, but each bolt weighs about 6 oz. according to my wife's cooking scale. So about 5.25 lbs for 14 bolts.
If you hit a tree pls report back and let us know if it tipped *hope you don't hit a tree*.My 2026 luckily doens't have that ugly thing. Build date was October 2025.

i think if it’s a safety issue like all other recalls, then Stillantis should be doing a massive recall to install this bracket. One shouldn’t have to think to buy a ’26 just for this upgrade.Mm. We'd first want to confirm their purpose. Perhaps rollover mitigation?
That knowledge would allow owners to make an informed choice about the brackets' removal, if they interfere with accessory installation.
Despite flipping the driver injuries were low! Many cars perform worse with broken legs, heads, etc.i think if it’s a safety issue like all other recalls, then Stillantis should be doing a massive recall to install this bracket. One shouldn’t have to think to buy a ’26 just for this upgrade.
i would agree, safety upgrades should never be an upgrade for you to buy, it’s should always be a recall. I think the way they look at wranglers is that it’s customizable and this is just like an add on feature(at least that’s how they’re categorizing it).If it's a safety modification (which seems likely), I'd like to add it if possible. I'm all for a safer Jeep. I was a little bummed when I saw that side curtain airbags were added the year after I bought mine.
Since this is an IIHS (insurance company group) test it's not something they'd do a recall of. If it was an NHTSA (federal govt) test then yes a recall is a potential remedy. So really the additional bracket will help insurance rates be lower on newer Wranglers.i think if it’s a safety issue like all other recalls, then Stillantis should be doing a massive recall to install this bracket. One shouldn’t have to think to buy a ’26 just for this upgrade.
Hmm - perhaps they don’t work with the 392 frame reinforcement ? See the green highlightMy 2/14/26 built Moab has the old style bracket.
The brackets are *NOT* retrofittable to earlier frames. There are a lot of changes to the frame with extra holes with captured nuts inside, hanger pins, etc. It is really a frame redesign.i think if it’s a safety issue like all other recalls, then Stillantis should be doing a massive recall to install this bracket. One shouldn’t have to think to buy a ’26 just for this upgrade.
