Hi, Looking to purchase a 21-23 2 door Sport S....wondering basic year to year differences of the 3 years...can anyone help? Prefer Red, White, or High Velocity..Like the Islander too. Anyone having one in an automatic with low miles feel free to send info my way. Thanks. Mike in Pittsburgh and Ormond Beach Florida

Technically, all the same with those years. Every Jeep JL that comes off of that assembly line is unique to it‘s own problems. Luck of the draw! Best of luck on your search - test drive the hell out of whichever one you choose.

I would think the biggest changes you find would be the color and model choices and maybe stock wheel or tire differences. I have a 2020 and they all look the same to me.

The only real differences in the JL didn’t start til 2024. Pretty much 2018-23 basic models are the same other then a couple extra colors or options.

At some point options like air conditioning became standard. Might not be applicable to the Sport, but Off-Road+ was introduced in there somewhere.

I believe in '21 the aluminum steering box was changed to steel.
I would hope by now all the aluminum steering boxes would have been swapped out by recall / warranty. But you never know.
I believe @Ratbert is correct, Off Road plus feature was introduced in 2021 but only in Rubicons and the JT Mojave.

Our 2019 still has the aluminum. Haven't had a problem with it so far.

So many different options and then the supply chain disruptions in 2020 and beyond created some interesting order patterns.

I’d say find one or theee you are interested in and run the VINs to get the build sheet and window stickers. Then compare against what you want.

I don't know the difference, but I've noticed on some accessories are listed for 2018-2020 and 2021+. Skid plates seem to be the most common separation, but there are others.

I heard on a YouTube video recently that if you take your jeep to a dealership and complain about steering quality, and you have an alum steering box, they'll replace it with a steel one for you for free, no questions asked. The alum one wasn't specifically recalled, but I believe Jeep's dealership instructions are to replace with steel box for free any time anyone has a problem or complaint about the alum one.
