Official diagram of how they work:

You know that's not a bad idea.

If you didn't know any better, those are called Security Pins

I can get those of various sizes at tractor supply for about $5 each.

Not sure what size you need, but varying types for around this price!

You could actually do this for the price of that security pin, and a little bit of time.

For the rest of us, this arm and mounting bracket are one piece and are mounted vertically on the door frame. Looks like this one they turned that arm sideways and installed the bracket sideways as well. I'm not in my Jeep right now, so I can't really get you a photo of it, but if you can figure out how to remove the connecting pin from the bracket (of your non-quick release door hinge), you can easily mount the bracket, and install the arm with a security pin (like the one linked above). I'm not sure what that connecting pin between the arm and the mount looks like, but worst case scenario, it's nothing a drill can't fix!

So, it's basically like a tiny hitch pin and they removed the bolts from hinges. lol

This is the cheapest and easiest modification ever. I'm surprised they're even advertising it.

Not the best pic, but here they are.

I remove the bolts the first time the doors come off and store them in the storage spot in the back. They never go back on. I'm pretty sure something like this would also work...

Guess this lays to rest the "Do I need to leave in the lower nuts on the hinges" debate.

Did you make them ? That would be super simple, I never even thought of that. Now I got a new project. Just gotta get the right starting material. I would need a block of aluminum and some machine work. I’m gonna start looking. Thanks for the idea !

Yeah i got some scrap chunks of aluminum at work and used our mill to make it. If you try it, make sure you drill out the door check arm to the right size for your pin. I had to make a little sleeve to press in cause i drilled it too big the first time.

So wait, without the bolt on the bottom does that mean it’s even easier from someone to walk off with my doors if I forget to lock the vehicle?
I have never heard of anyone walking up to a vehicle, opening the door, taking it off, and then walking off with it. At least not in my neck of the woods.

There is a company that has a kit. Unsure the name.

Well, if anybody DOES HAPPEN to find that company, maybe post it in here for us all. That would be easier than making them myself. I gotta find some thick ass aluminum plate, like 3/4”. That’s the hard part right now.
