Okay, before you shoot me down, let me preface this that I drive a 2024 Rubicon X but was curious if anyone has any experience with the Jeep Compass Trailhawk? I ask because a friend of mine is considering buying one and I know nothing about them. She wants something with a little off road capability but not a Wrangler ( I know, some friend!)

Any feedback would be appreciated.

It’s rated 14th best small compact suv, whereas the bronco sport, or rather the ford escape with badges is rated 4th. If she is looking for overlanding, maybe that categories ok, but overall I’d pass. But, I’m kind of an auto snob, what do I know, it’s her money.

I had a couple of them within my offroad group. They do fine on fire roads, but even some power line trails, they can struggle. We have a few on some local trails and even the powerline roads have some interesting climbs and descends from rain and other factors.

Definitely will need different tires as well for off roading, we had one get a flat near the end of the trail, then another immediately the last couple hundred feet. But the rocks around Vegas are definitely unique as well.

And from what I have seen, they do not do as well as other stock vehicles like the tacoma, 4runner, colorado/canyon, etc. Most likely more due to driver error, but if it were my family or friend, I would steer them away from the compass for off road.

... and we know nothing about your friend. If all that is desired is a vehicle to comfortably reach established campgrounds down muddy/dirt roads - my Trailhawk Renegade did fine, so should a Compass.

Well, we do know she has great taste in friends

Seriously, the more I think about this, I need to sway her over to the Jeep Wrangler side. Nothing over the top but a comfortable, fun ride

I'd make sure she test drives both. A lot of responsibility goes with swaying friends vehicle choice one way or another. 😲
