Hello everyone, I have a 2024 Wrangler and the dealership is replacing the engine due to finding coolant in the oil. They don’t have an estimate of when the new engine is going to get delivered (back order).

I love my jeep, this is was my dream vehicle. However, now I’m kinda worried about it in the long term. Is my jeep going to become a lemon, or does anyone know if Jeep gives extended warranties on these type of repairs? Also, highly unlikely but if Jeep would buy back the vehicle , I would 100% get a 392. A man can dream. lol

JL is now in its 7th year. Despite stellantis shenanigans, I’m sure they’ve got the process down. I’d give the warranty repair a chance. I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Im also sure they’ll be happy to order you a 392 with or without a buyback.

The big issue is part lead times. I'd suspect the vehicle is down for a month at minimum.

Which engine was it? V6 or 4 banger?

Regardless, they’ll cover that with a loaner. Yes, it’ll suck driving around a Compass or something for a month or two. But the dealer should cover that since this is a warranty issue.
I think the biggest issue is actually the dealer. Hopefully he’s got a good, competent dealer to do the install right.

My 1995 YJ, which I had purchased new, had the short block replaced under warranty due to incorrectly cylinder boring which manifested as piston slap. I only had the vehicle in my possession for a couple of months when that work was performed. I was not offered nor did I ask about a warranty extension.

A little while later, when whispers of the same problem reoccurring started to become evident to my now-familiar ears, I lost all faith in the vehicle. It was sold back to Jeep <1 year after I had purchased it...meaning such things aren't, or at least weren't, highly unlikely. I then walked away and stayed away from the brand for 25 years.

I've been in your position, and what I describe above is what I decided to do. That's not advice, because you've not asked for it. Rather, just keep it in mind for context, depending on how your own experience here develops.

Good luck.

I took alphawolff's advice and contacted Jeep Cares 1-800 number and they will most likely offer to make a payment for you or provide you with a max care policy. they did for me when I had my O2 sensor issue. Apparently they will fight buy backs tooth and nail...

Ohh didn’t know there was a jeep cares number and that they would do that. Huh, I’ll give it try. Thank you.

Some actually answered the phone right away and assigned a case manager who called back right away.
