Hello Cyrus.Hello everyone, I have a 2024 Wrangler and the dealership is replacing the engine due to finding coolant in the oil. They don’t have an estimate of when the new engine is going to get delivered (back order).
I love my jeep, this is was my dream vehicle. However, now I’m kinda worried about it in the long term. Is my jeep going to become a lemon, or does anyone know if Jeep gives extended warranties on these type of repairs? Also, highly unlikely but if Jeep would buy back the vehicle , I would 100% get a 392. A man can dream. lol
My name is Dennis.
I purchased my new 2024 2-door Willys with 3.6 in May 2024. It had 7 miles on it.
To make a really long story short... I'll just hit the hi-points.
Beginning in June, after about 700 miles, I had a number of check engine lights, my Jeep was towed to the dealership on several occasions. The dealership began by replacing the PCM. After more trips to the dealership, they realized that my Jeep had some significant issues. They got the Chrysler Star Center involved.
After about 3 months they replaced the engine, the PCM, the batteries, the exhaust system, and other things in a long list. All under warranty.
They knew that I loved my Jeep, which I do... very much so. They also realized that I trusted their service department. I chose not to push lemon issues. This was my Jeep and I wanted it to be fixed. I want to drive for a very long time. The dealership knew that I was on their side. They loaned me a brand new Rubicon for as long as I needed it. All I had to do was provide gas.
They also gave me a crazy warranty... that I abolutely love. I didn't ask for any extensions. The dealership initiated that.
Now... I also received calls from Jeep Connect or Wave... I'm not totally certain who they are connected with... but... I chose to not accept any payments for my time or extended warranties from them. I chose to not accept anything period... regardless of how many phone calls and/or emails that I received.
After all of this and with my new warranty... I made the decision to follow dealership maintenance recommendations totally.
What does that look like? Well... for one, I have always followed a 3000 mile oil change interval on all of my vehicles.... using the recommended dealer oil brand and factory weight recommendation.
I only use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, 0W-20 oil. I only use the Mopar oil cartridge which I purchase from the dealer. A senior tech in the service department introduced me to BG products.
Immediately before I change the oil, I travel to the service station and fill my gas tank up. Then back at home, while the engine is warm, I add one can (11 oz) of BG EPR Part Number 109 to the oil. Follow the directions. I drive my Jeep for about 25 minutes at speeds ranging between 20 and 30 mph then return home and drain the oil until it stops dripping.
Then I fill it with 5 quarts of Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, 0W-20, and one can (11 oz) of BG MOA Part Number 115.
To the full gas tank, I add one can BG Platinum 44K (11 oz) fuel system cleaner.
The next thing you want to do is navigate to the Pennzoil web site and join the 20 year / 750,000 mile program to log your use of their product. If you don't know about this program, navigate to their website and read about it.
I don't know how many miles my Jeep will travel. But since last summer, I've now logged over 10,000 miles and driven my Jeep up small mountains, driven miles of dirt roads, driven in the riverbed of the Mississippi River, and traveled on highspeed turnpikes.
All I know is that since I first drove and fell in love with the 1960's CJ-5 that my dad owned, I've always loved Jeep.
I've owned a lot of 4WD and AWD vehicles over the years and driven them to some beautiful places and made some good memories.... but nothing puts a smile on my face like I get when I drive that 2 door JL Willys. And truth be told... as I'm walking away from it... I look back and think.. I can't believe that I really get to drive it.
I hope that everything works out for you with your Jeep. I just wanted to share my experience with you from this past year. Looking back, I'm so thankful that I didn't let frustration get the better of me and make some decisions that may have turned out not so pretty.
I hope that you have a good relationship with your dealership service department. I'm willing to bet that there are some guys and gals there that love Jeeps as much as so many of us do. Share you love of the marque with them and let them know that you support them.
Good luck and best wishes.
