You can change the headlamp sensitivity in the radio settings. This is normal.

If there was ANY fault in the airbag system you'd have an airbag warning light on the dash. I wouldn't worry about it.

Windshield tint WILL 100% mess with your daylight sensor. Remove it.
I’ve looked for that setting but haven’t found anything related to headlamp sensitivity, do you mind telling me what it’s under?

There should be a lamp sensitivity setting under vehicle settings I believe. It's like a number slider 1-10 if I recall correctly.

You’d be ticketed here in Tennessee if you tint your windshield also good tint shops wont touch windshields.

Do you have a duck blocking the sensor?
no I don’t.
I’ll be removing my windshield tint in hopes of fixing the issue. I can’t imagine the tint causing such a dramatic change when I had the same tint on a jeep compass with zero issues. :/

by dark mode do you mean when your dash lights go dim when the headlights are on? If so just roll that little dial up till it “clicks” to turn day mode on. Second “click” turns on the dome lights. Probably easier to do that then rip your tint off

my windows are tinted including the windshield at 55% - this has not been an issue with literally any other vehicle I’ve owned including a jeep compass. I thought about removing the windshield tint but I need to make sure it’s not a sensor issue first because I did get the tints quickly after purchasing the vehicle so I don’t remember exactly how it was.

for example, driving home from work today - 5:30pm bright day light out - sensor is sensing the light and car is in day mode. I drove under a bridge, literally 3 seconds max, sensor changed to night mode. Head/tail lights turn on and all dashboard is in night mode. I couldn’t see anything. Sensor didn’t sense daylight anymore and stayed in night mode the whole drive home. Super frustrating that a $60k vehicle has an issue like this.
You added a tint to the windshield which is illegal in some States then wonder why the sensor which depends on sunlight is not working to your specs?
IMHO Windshield tint should be illegal, not seeing the oncoming driver is a safety issue.

Could you just not set the light position to 'auto' and (gasp) use your left hand to turn dem lights on when it gets dark?

Airbag light thing is normal for every car made since like seven minutes after airbags were invented.

Lag at startup? Have you ever used a computer? A phone? Do you hit the power switch and then just start using it? It takes a minute. JFC, let the thing boot up.

That’s just as difficult as using your right hand to push that pesky auto start/stop button. 🤣

Yes the point however wasn’t that it’s impossible to use the switch to manually turn it to day mode - the point was that if the sensor was malfunctioning or not as this is not normal sensor behavior. Maybe you’re ok spending your money on things that don’t work but I’m not.

sorry, but i think the problem is more about screwing with things (like adding tint over a sensor?!) and/or not understanding how they work is more the problem here.

you've got some decent feedback here; just learn how the dang thing works and how to use it rather than expecting it to work like anything else you may have known and then faulting it.

Lmaoo I’m starting to notice this is all normal with jeeps. I guess I’m ok spending money on things that don’t work too lol

I removed my windshield tint and the sensor is better. I do appreciate everyone’s advice on here - definitely thankful for everyone. You are absolutely right, I need to not expect things to work same with previous vehicles.

Glad it worked out for you. Sucks you had to rip the tint off. My windshield isn’t tinted but I constantly have to mess with the dial to brighten/dim the dash lights. Unfortunately it’s just the area i drive through on my way to work in the early morning. One curve it’s nice and sunny and the next is super shady.
