Hi All,

I've been thinking about a for a while 392. Recently, I've heard they are getting discontinued. I have a 2020 JL rubion and wondering trade in for a 392 or as standalone buy.

I've been offered a fully loaded with XR/dual door and sky one touch power roof at MSRP. Are they becoming rare and collectible?

Any thoughts about what their going price and desriablity in long run?

Thanks all.
XR at MSRP or even slightly above is a good deal for one on the lot. The XR package on the 392 is sold out, so they are hard to come by. You cannot order them anymore. You can get a 392 several grand below MSRP if you are willing to order and wait upwards of 8 mos to get though.

392s will retain value but I wouldn't look at it as an investment. Jeeps are already the least depreciating vehicle right now and the 392 will make it even more desirable. I think 392s will have a similar cache like the old school Defenders or retain value like the FJs.

I love my 392XR and plan to keep it for long time. It was worth the wait and money. There is nothing else like it on the market.

I tucked away a XR392 in Reign. Limited high impact color, non available XR package currently. If they make a 392 in 2024 I will drive it. If not, it will be at BJ next January. An exact Jeep sold for 120k plus 10% fees at this year's auction. Only time will tell what happens if the 392 is discontinued.
You wanted a rare one .Should have got one of ten pumpkin 392 xr that were made lastweek ..We switched are xr and got in on it

I’ll probably order a 392 again or right before they officially announce its EOL. Already miss it. It was a special vehicle. Just get it now and stop thinking about it :)

I will say, it was more fun than it was fast… no where near as fast as the M8 Competition I currently call my daily driver. I love this thing but in a different way than my Jeep.

I wanted a pumpkin in the worst way! Tried to get one ordered, never came to fruition. I would trade my Reign plus cash to get that color. Orange is my all time favorite jeep color. That one would never leave the collection!

That is a sweet 392. Very nice build. I think the same build is around 94k+. And you got a sweet deal.

It seems very hard to get one at MSRP now. Not sure why they asking premium.

A lot of us do, myself included. The 4.56 gearing is nice to have, along with 35's. If you're truly going to keep it stock, it's great. Even if you're going to run 37's, still great -- as the 4.56 gears really help. That said, it's not like it's a deal breaker.

My spec was:
  • Late '21 392 build w/ XR (was one week from being a 2022).
  • Hydro Blue
  • Front Cam
  • Sky One Touch
  • Gorilla Glass
  • Dual Door Group w/ Premium Uppers
  • Xtreme Recon Package
  • Trailer Tow Package
Paid $76307 -- MSRP came out to around $88265 when delivered (13.6% below MSRP).

I'm retaining all the stock parts but current build is looking like:
  • 40x13.50R17 Nitto Trail Grapplers
  • AEV Borah Beadlocks (couldn't get the rings for the XR wheels for any reasonable price).
  • AEV Rear Bumper & Tire Carrier (keeps tire off tailgate, stock steel bumper from colliding with body).
  • Currie Antirock swaybar rear, forged.
  • Currie Antirock swaybar front, forged (don't care for stock swaybar disco).
  • Currie winch plate
  • Currie adjustable control arms upper/lower
  • Currie track bars front/rear
  • Currie geometry correction brackets
  • EVO 4 1/2" HD springs front/rear
  • Fox 3.0 internal bypass remote reservoir shocks front and rear
  • Fox air bumps
  • Fox ATS stabilizer
  • Warn Zeon 10s w/ Ultrahook
  • APEX Steering Boost
  • Fender chop (American Adventure Lab Liners w/ Quake LEDs)
  • Front driveshaft (locally made)
  • Tazer
Next year will be Currie 70's and then I can use my Walker Evans set.

It’s hard to say about when jeep will announce the end of the 392 hemi but I would think two possibilities we could see at that point might be them offering something similar as they did with the diesel model FarOut for the final stretch of the 392 hemi maybe??? Idk then other possibilities could be them ending the 392 hemi but offering a new wrangler with the 3.0 hurricane engine at some point like after model refresh maybe to replace the 392 but still offering a high output wrangler to compete with ford ?? Idk would be interesting to see how the road ahead shapes out, I think if jeep will eventually offer some sort of model to match or replace the 392 down the road then value would be effected as the 392 might not ultimately be that unicorn jeep wrangler anymore as a similar concept or better model is available with just as much torque & HP combo or better, we’ll see but ultimately I feel if you want it, and can get it! Don’t wait until it’s too late and then be faced with the I wish I did scenario!

Barrett Jackson is a special kind of reality distortion zone, for sure, and prices can go nuts. But thing is that unless someone is dying for that exact color/spec, they can just go buy a 392 today for $85-90k, new with no miles. More likely $80k if they're willing to take some miles on it. Not to mention, you can still order them!

They're obviously still rare, but they're up for auction on BaT and Cars & Bids somewhat regularly. A '22 XR w/ 4600 miles just sold for $80k on BaT. A brand new non-XR went for $77k. And you can get them from dealers and private party beyond that.

Obviously all it takes is 2 people to want that exact truck to drive the price up, but these things aren't that rare. Right now if you want a 392, you can have a 392. I'm not sure where you're seeing a +$30k premium at for a truck that is widely available if you're someone that has the means to spend that kind of money on a Wrangler.
Was surprised by this BaT result today. Granted, not an XR. But a clean, well-spec'd truck w/ 80 miles just went for under MSRP.

Honestly I'm not surprised. BaT has never been a great place to sell Jeeps anyway. It's getting better, but there's been quite a few weak sales there. A hellcat swapped gladiator sold ($72k) for WAY less than it would have cost to build, yet at Barrett they're going for way more when you see them. AMW routinely sells builds for > $200k.

Not a single 392 has gone over MSRP (other than the one that was $1 over) on BaT. Technically speaking, you could argue they've gone over slightly assuming you include fees.

There's lots of used and new inventory nationwide, email and talk price up front and move on from dealers that won't budge to MSRP or below. Just helped a friend buy one that had 2500 miles on it for a few grand under MSRP. Black 22 392 XR.

Cargurus lists 367 used examples for sale right now, Autotrader lists a little over 300 new sitting in dealer inventory and I'm sure these sites don't list every single one. Enough out there if you want to negotiate with many dealers until you find one willing to play ball. A plane ticket and a fun road trip in your new rig is well worth it after a good deal.
