Jeep Wrangler unlimited 2019
Bought a Jeep Wrangler unlimited new in 2019. Our 4th. I have zero knowledge of cars. I always thought it just sounded more powerful than our last ones, what do I know. Turns out it was the distributor. We have our own mechanic but of course this can only be fixed by dealer. The dealer in town took a $4k cad deposit. Parts took 2.5 months to come in. When hubby called and said can you look around to get parts sooner, they looked on computer while still on phone with hubby and said oh here’s one ?. Final price $4700. After getter by it back the remote start stopped working. Brought back to dealer, they need to replace a camshaft. Quote: $7000. Not to mention, in early 2023 we noticed the paint starting to bubble. It’s past the warranty. Wtf?? I bought my first 4 dr in 2008 and it was around $40k now they are $65k plus yet the quality is crap? I always thought we’d be Jeep people forever. Now I’m can’t afford to. Anyone else experience any of these issues? Hubby’s 2019 2 door just had something done for $3k and his also has the death wobble on the highway.

This doesn't sound like a lemon issue.

How so? I’ve spent almost $12000 plus a paint job and it’s only 4 years old. Do you work for Jeep/Chrysler? Lol

Your paint should be covered for 5 years. I have a 2019 and it’s currently at the paint shop under warranty.

You need a new mechanic. Your Jeep doesn't even have a distributor...

Unless it's a 4xe and "distributor" means something else now.

So no remote start needs a cam shaft to fix? You need a good lawyer, sounds like this dealer has found a bottomless pit in your wallet.
its truly despicable that this dealership is taking advantage of folks that have little or no automotive experience.

Something smells like week old sushi about all of this. Your Jeep doesn't have a distributor, and the camshaft issue doesn't sound like a remote start killer.

All that said, before you get a lawyer get a good technician to look at the Jeep. "Good technician" doesn't necessarily mean someone at a dealership that was selling shoes last month.

Apparently "hubby" has zero knowledge of cars too ?‍♂
I think they would both be happier if they went to their local Toyota dealer and traded the Jeeps in. At least the IQ level of both owner groups would get a boost.

Hell, the local Toyota dealer would probably have a better shop and would just fix it instead of milking them.

All the Jeep dealer is trying to do is scare them into trading it in on an new one.

Any fault that turns on the engine light will disable remote start.

Now, a camshaft costing you more than 2k is criminal, but these are Canada dollars…
