How so? I’ve spent almost $12000 plus a paint job and it’s only 4 years old. Do you work for Jeep/Chrysler? Lol
I doubt you're coming back. But, no I do not work for Stelantis.

To be a lemon a vehicle has to meet certain criteria and what you described is not even close. Maybe being Canadian you meant lemon as in problematic or not what you expected as opposed to the legal definition of a lemon ?‍♂.

Based on what you posted I'd be concerned your mechanic and the dealer are in cahoots.

Jeeps are not for everyone. If you have zero automotive knowledge, you better have a good mechanic and money. Jeeps are best when owned buy an enthusiast, Who can appreciate what a Jeep is, and understands the pluses and minuses. Get yourself a nice IFS SUV like everyone else you’ll be much happier.

No way! I have owned Jeeps for many many years. I can’t see myself owning anything else. I just wanted to see if other people had similar issues and suggestions.

You are correct. Not a legal definition of a lemon yet still, after owning several other Jeeps this is the first time we have had issues like this so soon after new purchase. Thanks

What was done to your husband's Jeep for $3k? And if you bought new in 2019 this is 5 years old now?

You need to look for another dealer. By far the biggest problem with the modern Jeep Wrangler is the dealer service dept. Contrary to a popular opinion on here, an independent mechanic isn't really an option because the vast majority of issues you are going to encounter with the JL can only be handled at a dealer.

But I am not surprised at the issues you've had - the JL is not like past Jeeps. Everyone is used to the JK because it existed for so long, but the JK was a German/American design...the JL is an Italian design. It's like comparing a BMW to a Ferrari. If you rank dependability and quality at the top of your list, a Jeep is not for you. If you rank adventure up there and don't mind enduring some problems then the JL is your ticket.

This is not even close to true.

Perhaps you'd like to explain what makes you think this? Cause it is absolutely true that pretty much all the chronic issues that the JL suffers from require the FCA software diagnostic platform to fix...and you are going to be hard pressed to find an independent that has that access. They do exist, but they are exceedingly rare.

I think they would both be happier if they went to their local Toyota dealer and traded the Jeeps in. At least the IQ level of both owner groups would get a boost.
I actually tend to agree with you. I was going to recommend getting a used JK, But honestly a Toyota would probably last longer. ?‍♂

Yea, I have one. It’s not rare by any means, you just need to be a professional. As an independent, we have to have software tools for everything we work on. Ford’s VCM3/IDS is better and cheaper but there’s nothing complicated about owning a MDP and using the witech software.

Do you even wrench bro?

Jokes aside, if you know nothing about vehicles and working on them, just say so. Don't make false statements about things you know nothing about.

The only thing stopping you from changing your own camshaft on your Wrangler JL is the time and effort you want to put into it.

If you like going to the dealership handing them a wad of money and hoping that solves all your problems, just say so. There's no shame in going to the dealership. Lots of people do it. Not everyone is capable of working on their vehicles themselves.

So you having one means that it's not rare? LOL. I haven't been able to fine a single reputable independent in my entire region that has this capability. There are the tire shops other chains that may very well have it but you'd be crazy to think that the techs at those places are any different than the dealer techs.

Please know what you're talking about before inserting yourself into a conversation.

Put some thought into this before you embarrass yourself. We're not talking about camshafts and clutches here.

It was. The only Italian-designed components of the JL are the turbo-4 and bits of the interior. The Compass, Renegade, Cherokee, etc. were based on platforms that were co-engineered with Fiat, but those were in development from 2011, well before the acquisition was even on the table. The JL was based on... the JK, and has far more in common with it than not.

I was like WTF.... A distibutionator.... lol. I took 2 50mg gummies, I read that and had to stop and figure out if I was 'Tarded.
I'm REALLY glad I'm not the only one who read it and had to question the reality I was existing in at the moment...
