everyone is talking about production delays, the jk line finally being ended and waiting for parts to be scheduled, what ever the hell that means. the fact is jeep does not care about the jeep purest. this is the first time in their history they didnt make 2drs first. All they care about is pumping out 4drs with so many options the msrp is north of 50k! So people who never even knew what a wrangler was untill the unlimitied came out , will run to the dealership to buy one. i get it , its buisness your in it to make money , but there comes a point where you piss off your base , and in the end thats going to hurt you. If toyota had brain one in their head , they would bring back a real updated version of the fj40, they would clean up.

Excellent post! I had a few FJ40’s back throughout the 80’s; spectacular vehicle. Back then the slogan was a Jeep and a FJ40 go out four wheeling, the Toyota would always come out of the woods; sometimes towing the Jeep.

Everything Toyota produces today is for the mass consumer as well. Look at the pitiful FJ Cruiser that was just recently discontinued; a decent vehicle but not even close to what a Wrangler can do.

if you’ve got the cash, you can get a new one at www.fj.co - saw one of these in my town and it was amazeballs (but about 80k!)

Thanks for your response. My message was not to put FCA in any beneficial light. I’m just as unhappy as anybody on this forum concerning the entire lack of honest and reputable communication regarding this entire JL rollout. I’m waiting and wondering if I will order my 2 door.

I was actually hoping FCA would be concerned about all of the very upset people due to their lack of concern for all of us loyal consumers. This comes from everything I’ve seen on this entire forum concerning their vague timeline dates resulting in a large amount of complaints. I respect all of the people who have voiced their displeasure; unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be getting through.

JeepCares knows very well how upset many people are on this forum. You would think they would at least relay this info to the proper management level; and they probably are. So this leads me to believe FCA does not care if they’re upsetting their customers and ultimately degrading their reputation as a decent company.

Well said ... regrettably it's clear to all that the "JeepCares" handle has become an oxymoron. If they truly cared about their loyal ,avid Wrangler customer base there would be proactive communication on the issues that are disappointing and frustrating all of us, and FCA would provide real answers not politically-correct pablum explaining how much they appreciate our inquiries. Pick your example: total disregard for announced production schedules , the off-road pages fiasco, now the 2.0 overriding sold orders for the 3.6, even their silly position on adding floor mat "extras", etc etc etc.....it's just sad. Shame on the clueless FCA executives, shame on Mike Manley, shame on all the customer relations people who smilingly go along with the games they are playing with all of us. If you want to see a great example of hypocrisy-in-action, go back and re-review the original roll-out video from the L.A. Show. They have failed to recognize that the formerly avid Wrangler 2-door purists are (were?) the best marketing asset they had. As I said ... just sad.

Jeep Cares are hired guns to identify potential recall candidates.

FCA did not publish production dates. The timeline published was put together via inside information.

Like everyone, I want my two door ASAP. Life’s too short to spend it being angry, though.

Your dealerships sold you your trucks. They have a direct line to FCA via their reps. Vent through them. Whining here or lambasting Jeep Cares won’t help you.

Or, whine on... doesn’t matter, except that I keep coming here to see if there’s any new info, but day after day it’s just more whining.

Understand your view, for sure, but the fact that you have to "keep coming back here to see if there's any new info " is an important point here.

Come for the info, stay for the whining!

New model delays are nothing new, but what I think gets to me (and maybe others) is
1) lack of communication
2) de-prioritizing the Jeep 'base'

We all know the money is in the asphalt crawlers, but the whole Jeep ethos comes from the core off road group. It's in their branding, those cheezy commercials they are running, it's what they say they designed for with the JL. Of that, the 2 door manual Wrangler is king.

You would think they would make a big deal of producing the 2-door first instead of delaying it repeatedly. You'd think they would have the 'off-road' pages they advertised.

Truth is, I'm not at the point where I will cancel my order., yet. I still want my Jeep and a delay of a couple of months from when I thought I would get it isn't going to change that. But I am at the point where I'm going to complain and, frankly, more of delay would make me want to cancel for a 2019 model. My TJ still works. :jk::jk:

Yeah there are a few different companies rebuilding from the frame up, with prices from 50k as high as 125k I've seen. Don't know why Toyota doesn't cash in on it.

I understand the frustration but remember if Jeep stopped making the "Real Jeep" and catered to the "asphalt crawlers" they would still be successful. I know you feel like you are a real customer because you prefer a 2 door Jeep and you use it for actual off road but without the "asphalt crawlers" you would not have a 2 door Jeep to buy in the first place.

So vent your frustration that they have pushed back the 2 door builds. I get it. I am with you that it is frustrating. But please stop calling out the people that either prefer or need a 4 door Jeep as if it is all their fault you have to wait longer. Without them you would not be buying a "real Jeep" today at all as they would have scrapped it a long time ago.

People generally cannot afford a brand new Jeep as a toy to play with in the rocks. The four door allowed many to have their cake and eat it too with only being able to afford one vehicle.

The major problem is the Jeep Reps are completely kept from any info from FCA; they know squat. Perfect truthful example; I went into my local dealer the end of August. A dealer rep just happened to be there at that exact time; lucky or in my case not so lucky me. I asked him about the diesel and what Wrangler models it would be built on. He barely knew and was vaguely aware of anything to do with a diesel engine. Isn’t there an entire thread on this forum site devoted to unbelievable stupid remarks from uninformed dealer salespeople?

I’ve learned more on this site than anything my dealer has told me; as probably 99% of the people on this forum. Tell me why dealers and reps are being left in the dark? Do you think they forget the info that should have been forwarded to them from up on high. I sincerely doubt this, but it might just be FCA is dropping the ball with its dealerships as well. That is what I’m bitching and whining about as we all should be doing. So tell me again, should we be complaining to our dealer salespeople? My salesman is doing everything he can based on the very limited info he has.

So please read some more on these forums; there are real people who know what they’re talking about and should not be chastised by you for speaking their minds.

Nobody is calling out anybody. to say that two doors would not even be around with out the 4dr is ridiculous! the two door jeep has been around for over 70years , and survived at least 4 corporate take overs. 2 drs will be around long after 4drs go the way of the dodo

Every time people call out others as mall crawlers, asphalt crawlers etc they are giving a back handed slap as to say they are not "real Jeepers".

As for the 2 door not being around FCA / Chrysler even said that back in 2007 had they not released the Unlimited with success the Jeep would have been scrapped and or converted into another boring SUV like all the other brands. The Unlimited saved Jeep and allowed them the ability to keep it true to its roots. Without all those 4 door sales there would not be enough revenue to make a 2 door Jeep. Please do some research before stating that it is ridiculous. Without the 4 door you would have NO 2 door to buy today the way you have now. There were not enough sales to make it profitable to be produced.

Again, I am grateful for the 4 door - just don't want one. It is a real Wrangler, no doubt it - awesome vehicle, but to each her own. Also, I do not blame the 4 door for delaying 2 door production BUT I do blame FCA for jacking up 2 door production and further delaying it, especially if you order a 2DR, MT, PST, Rubi!!!!!!!
