The day no two door Wranglers are built is the day I'll stop having any interest in purchasing a new Jeep. I'm a two door Wrangler guy and always will be, however I completely understand why four door models are around. I'm glad the, "pavement only" crowd has allowed Wrangler to become more refined, while the off-road scene has kept Wranglers continuously more capable with every generation.

The only thing I don't understand is WHY Jeep decided diesel is only an option on four door Wranglers. That shit will bolt right in minus a different driveshaft and possibly a redesigned DEF tank, so what's the excuse? Is it too difficult for their engineers, even though they built a brand new Wrangler? Or is it because they want to milk extra money out of us ($5k for Unlimited+$5k diesel=$10k extra)?

C'mon Jeep put a diesel in two door Wranglers for 2019!!!!!!!!

Huh? What is that supposed to mean?
I'm saying it would look much better if it had a shorter wheel base the way it was always meant to...

it's ok though thanks for talking me out of a new jeep.. I'll keep my TJ thanks. Always loved that thing anyway....

why the hell would I want to spend 50k+ on a wrangler... that's a down payment on that new tesla roadster.. Yea I'll go for that instead..something needs to supplement my 8 mpg wrangler

That is your opinion, and everyone has one and many don't share yours.

IMO the 2dr JK Wrangler never really looked great unless it was stretched. There are several 2 door wranglers that look good, but the 4drs always looked better fixed up. The 2dr JL on the other hand looks so much better with the longer/flatter hood. One thing the 4dr never had on my 2dr was driving fun factor. The 2dr with the 6spd felt so much more nimble/fun than my 4drs(both auto and 6spd.)

I kind of agree. I feel like the 33" tires now standard on the Rubi fills out the 2-door much better.

Whatever man have fun ...whats your address ill send you a new car seat
I don't mind your disappointment in not being able to get a diesel in your 2-door manual JL, what I take offense to is your assertions about others in their choice of Wrangler configurations. Grow up, you aren't the only serious off-roader here buddy.

There are some simple truths here. Gather round, kids and I'll explain.

1. Offering an additional engine/transmission combo (diesel/mt) on the 2- door would add cost to the Wrangler program.

2. Jeep couldn't allocate all that cost to diesel/mt 2doors because it would make them too expensive for anybody to reasonably consider buying.

3. The only choice would be to allocate that cost across ALL wranglers.

4. Jeep has better market data than you do.

5. Jeep has smarter people than you who used that market data to perform an analysis that told them this: We're not going to sell very many 2 door wranglers with a diesel and manual transmission. If we spend the money to figure out how to put a diesel/mt combo in a two door Wrangler, that will raise the cost of all Wranglers and result in us having to charge a price point that the market will not bear. We would then sell less Wranglers overall and make less money. This a bad thing.

I guess if you want to be mad at the invisible hand, that's cool. Not terribly productive, but whatever.

actually I'm not, I generally like the design changes and almost everything about the new JLs. The only thing I don't like is how they don't offer any of the options I want on the 2 door model. Why can't I get a diesel with a manual transmission, seriously, can anyone answer that with a well constructed answer
The rest of the world can and thats all that counts. Trump may help you

The rest of the world still drives manual. I'd be really curious what Jeep's internal estimates are on how many they'd sell in the U.S. I bet it's dismally small.
